Salesian College Prep defeats Campolindo 76-71 in a semifinal contest at Gridley
Salesians top players in this game
Te’Jan Sawyer 6’8 2020 forward has slimmed down a bit. He’s moving better laterally and at a quicker pace. He was dominate in this match up. His power and strength around the basket was too much for Campolindo defenders. He found open cutters, and hit a 3 from the top of the key. He scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Shane Bell 6’4 2020 guard was probably the most athletic prospect in the game. He can score points slashing, and by driving to the paint for jumpers. Bells athleticism was too much for Campo in the open court as he repeatedly beat defenders going towards the basket. He finished with 14 points and 4 assists.
Tyler Brinkman 6’5 2020 forward made a solid contribution in this game. He hit key mid range jumpers from the elbow and the baseline, and he scored on the block working for rebound and getting put backs. He finished with 12 points, 4 assists.
Austin Johnson 6’4 2022 point guard. It looks like the coach is going with Johnson on the point for now. He was decent for a good portion of the game with his deliberate style of bringing the ball into the four court and directing the offense. His attack from that position will have to improve and his decision making down the stretch as well. He’s big, strong and puts in the work. He’ll get better.
Courtney Alexander Jr 6’4 2023. This was my first time seeing Alexander play this season. He provided a spark off the bench by knocking down three 3 point shots, and scored key baskets down the stretch. At times he looked a little lost, but he has the ability to knock down shots. It looks like he’ll be a key contributor for this team. 14 points.
Campolindo players
The Mahaney brothers Carter 6’3 2020 point guard (NAU) and Aidan 6’3 2022, will carry the load for this team. Carter at the point and Aidan scoring. Together they combined for 40 of Campolindos 71 points in this game. Carter is a top notch facilitator. He handles the full court pressure applied, and he’s one of the few that can consistently knock down the mid range jumper. 14 points 5 assists. While Aidan can score it at all three levels including at the free throw line. 26 point, 9/11 FT’s.
Emmanuel Callas 6’5 2021 guard doesn’t get as much attention as the Mahaney Brothers, but he has come a long way in his improvement. He used to be in the post, but now he’s out on the wings driving to the basket and shooting 3’s. He’s still gets it done on the block for this team. 11 points 4 rebounds in this game.
Logan Robeson 6’2 2023 guard gives Campolindo a young prospect who can come in and make a contribution. He’s still finding his way, but he contributed two big 3’s off the bench in this game.
