Many any of these teams have quality 2021 prospects who are depended upon to help carry the load during the season. Here are some 2021 prospects who I thought set themselves up for breakout seasons.
Jaden Alexander 6’4 2021 wing St. Patrick- St. Vincent. After being absent for most of the grassroots season.
Alexander had a breakout game to start his high school season. The athletic wing produced 26 points scoring in all the ways you can score in this game. Early on he was active around the basket proving to be to strong for some defenders. He had quite a few rebound and put backs for two. Then he worked his way out side and knocked down a couple of 3’s. He showed his athleticism by converting 4 dunks, two ally-oops and two in transition. Good start !
Marsalis Roberson 6’4 2021 guard Bishop O’Dowd
Robinson didn’t light up the box score with points like past contests 7 points. He did show that he can be an effective prospect who stays within the flow of the game, and can help his team in other ways. His long wiry body made it difficult for opponents to score baskets. He showed his versatility by being quite effective guarding on the perimeter, and around the post area on both ends. He’s expected to get his share of the rebounds on this team. He has a Couple of DI offers.
Cole Anderson 6’3 2021 guard Clovis West.
Anderson is a must see prospect. He’s going to put up high scoring numbers every game, because his team needs that and he can. He’s also a competitor who’s in good shape, and can play long stretches at a fast pace. He can score with the best, hitting 3’s, mid-ranges and getting to the paint. He’s good at coming off screens for the shot, and can draw attention that leaves teammates open for scores. He finished with 38 points. The high scorer for the day.
Michael Mitchell 6’3 2021 point guard Archbishop Mitty. (Pepperdine)
Mitchell has worked the point guard position all summer competing at the highest level (EYBL 16U). He has good improvement in this area. His handles and court vision are improved, he made good decisions with the ball, he’s becoming more crafty with his passing. He’s hitting 3’s and he’s showing he can guard multiple positions. He hit two 3’s and finished with 7 points and 8 assists.
Corey Yerger 6’2 2021 point guard Grant
Yerger starts the game at the two guard, and gets to work from the wings, he still brings the same energy, and athleticism when he plays. He’s got that quick burst on the drive, and he’s fearless attacking the rim. He can be very dangerous on the wings in transition. He gets good lift on his mid-range, and he starting to look more for his 3 point shots. He’s a tenacious defender and has quick hands. He made two 3’s and contributed 17 points in the win.
Robert Viahola 6’7 2021 forward Archbishop Riordan.
Viohola is a strong inside player who’ll get a lot of 2nd chance points working the offensive boards. He’s got good footwork and a soft touch around the basket. He sets good screens and is a good passer from the high post. He’s a solid defender in the post area.
Donjae’ Lindsey 6’2 2021 guard Weston Ranch
The athletic combo guard is carrying the load for this team. He scored 20 points in this game while working from the wings, and finishing with a variety of moves around the basket, using good body control. His 3 point shooting and his form are improved. He’s another prospect that can turn up his defensive game and cause problems for handlers.
