Eau Claire North: A win over River Falls and a sneaky talented Wisconsin Rapids team takes North to 6-0 on the year. They’re trodding through a loaded schedule, scoring nearly 80 points a game this week while holding River Falls to only 56 points.
Dalton Banks is doing his thing, but a surge of scoring from Ashton Kallstrom is elevating them to another level early in the season.
Brookfield Central: Central smothered Brookfield East this week, winning 63-43 in a defensive battle. Only 24 hours later they blew past Oshkosh West, dominating in all facets of that game. There’s not much that hasn’t been said about Central, only that talent continues to crop up on their roster and their stars are establishing themselves as touted recruits.
Milwaukee King: Yes, this is their third time as a finalist in four weeks. But, they keep beating – dominating, rather – Wisconsin’s premier teams. This week, it was Milwaukee Academy of Science, whom they defeated 75-68.
Quinton Murrell is becoming a full-on star through this process. He’s leading a high-powered offense nightly, and despite playing only one game, this week was no exception.
Sussex Hamilton: Hamilton was favored over Menomonee Falls, but to throttle them by 44 points was a hit out of left field. Following up with a close win over top-five Kimberly allowed them to punch their ticket onto this list. Hamilton continues to roll out an undefeated season, this week being one of many overly-successful seven-day slates.
Honorable Mentions:
Hudson: Hudson squeezed past a talented Chippewa Falls team in overtime on Friday. Both of their wins this week came by thin margins, which ultimately kept them out of the top four, but the win over Falls is an underrated conference resume builder.
Arrowhead: Arrowhead’s raid of the Classic Eight conference standings started with a close win over Catholic Memorial followed by a blowout win over of Waukesha West on Friday. Carter Gilmore is to thank for most of Arrowhead’s success thus far, as he’s averaging over 26 points and 11 rebounds a game.
Whitnall: After treading water last week, Whitnall knocked off Pewaukee and Shorewood, boosting their record to 5-2. Pewaukee is certainly a key win, although it doesn’t stack up with the marquee victories boasted by our top-four.
