Cuba City: Cuba City dismantled Brookfield Academy, scoring 100 points in the matchup. The win moved them to 6-0 on the year and establishes them as a division four frontrunner as well as the SWAL conference favorite.
Sheboygan Lutheran: After a surprising loss early in the season, Lutheran picked up their best win thus far over Lake Country Lutheran, and followed that by edging out Edgerton. Both wins came at the WBY Shootout, giving them two resume-building non-conference wins.
Onalaska: This team tested Minnehaha Academy (MN) last week, a good omen for the remainder of the season. As for this week, they continued playing premier basketball, beating Kaukauna and Oshkosh West (this week’s Honorable Mention).
They could find themselves on this list again, too, with matchups against La Crosse Logan, Eau Claire Memorial and La Crosse Central all coming in the next three weeks.
Madison La Follette: A sleeper in the division one field had their coming out party this weekend. Madison La Follette handed Brookfield Central their first loss of the season, winning by 17 points at the WBY Shootout.
With tremendous talent depth, this team looks to make noise this year and possibly in March.
Honorable Mention:
Oshkosh West: West participated in the WBY Shootout, notching an upset win over Eau Claire Memorial. They would lose their next game to an elite Onalaska team, but avoiding the winless week with a key victory justifies the honorable mention.
