Some of the top teams from the West Coast were on hand plus some teams from all over the country. Multiple Florida teams were well represented.
Corona Centennial (CA) defeated the talented Bishop Gorman (NV) in the Platinum bracket.
Here were some of the top seniors I viewed from So-Cal and AZ:
Devin Askew PG 6’3 Mater Dei (CA)
-Strong scoring lead guard can really shoot it. He can carve his way into the lane and is a way better passer then he gets credited for. He takes over games with his shooting, toughness and IQ. Askew committed to Kentucky.
Blaise Beauchamp SG 6’1 Bella Vista Prep (AZ)
-Shooter gets hot in a blink of an eye! He rattled off 5 3’s in a row and made 6 in the game I saw. Has one of the fastest releases in the state and is very consistent performer. He can carry a team on any given night. He also is scrappy on defense.
Josh Christopher SG 6’3 Mayfair (CA)
-Powerful scoring guard has deep range. He can fly on the break and makes some of the toughest shots. He has good passing ability and when he is engaged, he is a very good defender. His pull-up off the dribble is next level stuff. He is one of the better unsigned seniors on the West Coast.
Paris Dawson PG 6’0 Centennial (CA) (Pictured)
-The MOP of the tourney guided his team to the win the top bracket. Many teammates transferred and he wanted to put his team on his shoulders and win this one in a big way. He is a big time shot-maker and overall shooter. He is extremely quick with the ball in his hands and gets to the basket easily. He has a nice floater game and comes with deep shooting range. His pull-up is hard to stop and he may be a little undersized but the Portland State commit is tough!
Sincere Parker SG 6’4 AZ Compass Prep
-One of the top shooters in the state. He has a stronger build and once he sees one goes in, it’s over. He will rattle off more quickly. He is a good rebounder, has good strength and defends well.
Aidan Prokup SG 6’4 Mater Dei (CA)
-A consistent shooter with good size. He can create a shot for himself off the dribble and is best off the catch. He does a little bit of everything for his team to succeed and outside of Askew, Prokup is the best passer on the team. He will be needed this season to take pressure off of Askew for them to make a deep run. He committed to Cal Poly.
