It was always a single digit affair as both teams went back and forth.
Here is a look at the standouts from Tuesday night.
Caleb Snowden (Dunbar)
With 16 points, 2020 6’7″ forward Caleb Snowden had five dunks for Dunbar and was finding openings and slamming the ball down with ease. He had a block midway through the fourth quarter that erupted the gym. Snowden was the most active player on the night and his length and athleticism are really a difference-maker. Look for him to continue to take advantage on both ends of the floor.
Nate Cadet (Lehigh)
Getting into the paint and finishing was something 2021 6’4″ forward Nate Cadet did so well for Lehigh in this game. He had a game-high 18 points and was powerful and really efficient. Cadet is someone who stood out the whole night and I loved his intensity and true will to get inside.
Shaun Russ (Dunbar)
2023 6’2″ guard Shaun Russ was really good in this game. Eight of his 14 points came in the fourth quarter alone. He had back to back buckets with under three minutes and buried four free throws in closing time. Russ is a superb ballhandler and someone who really controls the tempo and plays with so much focus and energy.
CJ Smith (Lehigh)
Before exiting with a knee injury on a charge he took which forced him to the ground hard, 2020 5’10” guard CJ Smith was huge as a downhill piece for the Lightning. He had 15 points and went inside to finish in a variety of ways. Smith is a determined piece for this offense, so hopefully, he is back soon.
Caleb Jones (Dunbar)
Saving the best for last, 2021 6′ guard Caleb Jones hit a free throw to place his team ahead for good and his putback slam in the second half was electric. He had nine points, missing on some transition passes early but he paced the offense well after that. Jones is a leader, who is vocal and always keeping his teammates motivated.
Darron Humphrey (Lehigh)
Keeping Lehigh afloat in the closing minutes, 2020 6’4″ guard Darron Humphrey connected on two 3’s from the right corner. He was confident and his jumpers were clutch. Humphrey was taken out much of the game with the fast paced Dunbar defense but he fought the whole night and moved the ball around. He is a high flying athlete.
