That being said, let’s take a look at the matchups from last week with the rankings in mind and analyze if teams could move up or down after this week. Again, most teams only played one or two games (some not at all). Here is a quick recap of the last week in reference to the preseason rankings.
Class AA:
Biggest game/matchup/result was SF Roosevelt beating SF O’Gorman. The athletic guard play for Roosevelt proved to give O’Gorman some issues. That is guys like Tyler Feldkamp, Michael Paulson and Tucker Large; Large led the Roughriders with 18 points in the win. Brandon Valley and Yankton both won two games out west against RC Stevens and Sturgis. Another preseason Top Ten matchup saw Huron defeat Mitchell in a close game. Harrisburg also had a nice win over Pierre behind sophomore guard Andrew Walter‘s 18 points.
There will be some moving and shaking after week two completes. These games mentioned above will factor in as well as some big matchups this week: Yankton vs Brandon Valley, Huron and Mitchell head west to play both Rapid City schools and O’Gorman plays SF Lincoln.

Class A:
St. Thomas More looked like a solid #1 to start the year after two wins as they traveled to Chamberlain and then the next night beat West Lyon (IA). Paul Bruns recorded his first double-double in a win over Tea. Dell Rapids and Sioux Falls Christian both looked strong. Vermillion got a big win behind 20 points from Jakob Dobney. Lastly the standout team maybe (outside the Top Ten) was Canton who was led by none other than Kayden Verley who had games of 26 and 42 last weekend.
We will see if Canton can keep it rolling and make a case for a Top Ten spot after week 2 (they play #2 Dakota Valley). Crow Creek plays in the LNI Tourney this week and should be a favorite to win that. Dell Rapids will face off against Tea and Sioux Falls Christian plays AA foe O’Gorman.

Class B:
Top Ten preseason matchup saw Dell Rapids St Marys secure a win over rival Colman-Egan. Other Top Ten teams all won with the exception of Sully Buttes and Northwestern who were idle. Andrew Rohrbach led the way for Aberdeen Christian with a near triple-double in a nice opening night win. Other team to watch who had a statement win is Howard who was led by Tiny Spader.
Games this week should be chalk, however you never know. Dec 28th games are the ones that everyone is looking forward to which will present big time class B matchups.
