The Rick Majerus WBY Shootout will host three days of consecutive action. Concordia University will be the place to be for Wisconsin high school hoops fans, as top teams and prospects from all over the state will be competing in the event.
Prep Hoops Wisconsin gives you ten prospects to watch at the event.
Luke Haertle 6’1 / G/F Lake County Lutheran
Luke Haertle is a prospect that doesn’t shy away from the bright lights. If fact, Haertle thrives in the biggest moments. The 6-foot-1 guard hit two game-winners for Wisconsin Playground Club this past summer on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Haertle also led Lake County Lutheran to a Divison 5 football championship in November.
When Lake County Lutheran needs a big bucket, Luke Haertle will be the guy that steps up.
Logan Jedwabny 6’2″ / G/F Kaukauna
Logan Jedwabny is putting up some impressive numbers to start his senior season. The Kaukauna guard’s sweet shooting stroke has allowed him to put up 18.6 points per game through five contests.
Jedwabny and the Ghosts will take on Grafton and Onalaska at the WBY Shootout.
Brock Heffner 6’6″ / PF Grafton
Brock Heffner caught my eye during the Hard Work Region Finals, which took place in July. The power forward has really impressive footwork and touch around the hoop. Heffner, who teamed up with John Lovelace and Jayden Jackson, helped lead ABC Young Lions to the semifinals in the 16U bracket.
Heffner is averaging 13.2 points per game on the young season.
Aidan Clarey 6’1″ / G Brookfield Academy
Aidan Clarey is an underappreciated prospect in the 2020 class. All Clarey has done is consistently produce over his high school career. It appears that Clarey plans to continue this trend throughout his senior season. The 6-foot-1 guard is putting up 24.2 points per game.
Brookfield Academy will play Mineral Point on December 26 and Cuba City on December 27.
Jake Buchanan 5’11” / PG Kimberly
Jake Buchanan has become one of the best point guards that Wisconsin has to offer. He is a bit undersized, but what he lacks in height, he makes up for in skill. Buchanan has good shooting range, court vision, and has added strength to his frame.
The Buchanan led Papermakers will play Arrowhead and Waukesha West at the WBY Shootout.
Micah Causey 5’9 / PG St. Thomas More
In a pickup game at the playground, Micah Causey definitely wouldn’t be picked first — he would probably get selected towards the end of the draft because of his diminutive frame. This is how Causey likes it, though. Because the same people that overlook the St. Thomas More guard will later regret this choice. Causey is a killer who shows no mercy to his counterparts on the court.
Causey will have two opportunities to prove himself at the WBY Shootout when his team matches up with Lake Country Lutheran and McDonell Central.
Brayden Dailey 6’5″ / SF Cuba City
Brayden Dailey’s junior season has been anything but quiet. After transferring from Mineral Point to Cuba City, Dailey is scoring 24.4 points per game and has led the Cubans to five wins.
The 6-foot-5 small forward uses solid fundamentals to best his opponent on both ends of the court.
Tyrell Stuttley 6’4″ / F Onalaska
Onalaska has a legit chance to rip the MVC crown from La Crosse Central’s head because of Tyrell Stuttley. While Stuttley may not be a household name, he has the talent of one. The Southwest Minnesota State commit pairs his positional size with good basketball IQ and athleticism.
Onalaska will face off against Kaukauna and Oshkosh West this weekend.
Cameron Palesse 6’3″ / SG Waukesha West
After not being able to get on the court for Waukesha West’s first two games, Cam Palesse is back and ready to help his team win games.
Waukesha West should be very glad that Palesse is back because it will need him this weekend. West will have two very stiff tests in Kimberly and Grafton.
David Joplin 6’5″ / PF Brookfield Central
I am not sure there is much more to say about David Joplin. Simply put, he is the best player on one of the state’s best teams. Joplin is a versatile forward who can do a little bit of everything. The small forward will look to help BC take down Madison La Follette on December 28.
