Recruiting Report: TJ Gadsden (2021)
Scan the list of local 2021 prospects, and you may not find one more improved in the last 12 months than TJ Gadsden. The 6-foot-7 forward is getting extended run at St. Andrew’s this year and is thriving. Gadsden has been an important factor in his team’s 6-1 start with his versatility on both ends of the floor.
“I play with high energy. I start on the defensive end and get it from there,” Gadsden told Prep Hoops during a recent interview. “I get going offensively, hit some open shots and get my team involved.”
One of the most underrated parts of Gadsden’s overall game is probably his shooting. When he sets his feet and shoots it confidently, it goes in at a decent clip. One thing that Gadsden does exceptionally well while out on the floor is talk. He understands the importance of communication and how it contributes to successful teams.
“I feel like when everybody is quiet, the energy drops and that’s not how we like to play,” he explained. “So I like to get us started and be the vocal presence defensively and even offensively. Just making sure everybody is on the same page in what we are doing.”
Gadsden has recently seen his recruitment begin to trend up. George Mason and Mount St. Mary’s have respectively offered him scholarships. As Gadsden continues to improve his overall game and play at a consistently high level, more D1s should begin to inquire.
What are his goals?
“MAC Championship. That’s the biggest thing on our mind right now. Just trying to win, get to the end of the season and try to win the MAC championship.”
