Hanover Making A Play For Stellar Class
The last couple weeks have been huge for DIII power Hanover College. They had 3 commits come on board along with their biggest last night in Jeffersonville guard Darin Starks. The sharpshooter has a ton of upside and had a lot of scoring ability to watch for once in college. He is joined by Mt. Vernon-Fortville (IN) guard Ryan Morris and South Vermillion (IN) guard Brice Gilman. They also had New Palestine (IN) forward Dawson Eastes locked in.
That four player class has a chance to be not only the best from an in-state DIII but also one of the best for any small school in the state. Eastes and Starks alone, with their talent, would be a pretty good class. Add in an under-the-radar Gilman and Morris and you have some serious pieces.
Huntington University Steals Two In-State
Looking back a year or two from now and Ben Humrichous of Tipton (IN) committing to Huntington will look like an absolute steal. He’s the type of kid that is just scratching the surface and had an array of offers including one from Incarnate Word at one point. He was on the radar of some low and mid-major programs in the Midwest. But he wasn’t the only one.
Local guard Mitchell Wilson of Columbia City (IN) also committed to the Forresters. The high-scoring lead guard had offers from Saint Francis (IN), Trine, Goshen, and Grace but chose to stay in his backyard. He’s a guy that you can play from Day 1 because of his ability to shoot and score and will be the type of four-year stalwart that you can build a program around. Both of these guys together should be staples for Huntington for years to come.
Quick Hitters:
2021 wing Luke Goode visited Louisville this week and picked up an offer from the #1 ranked Cardinals. They were a program that has been on him for a little bit here and pulled a trigger on the big, scoring wing. He also had offers from IUPUI, Iowa, Butler, Illinois, Xavier, Maryland, Stanford, Northwestern.
2020 wing Carson Barrett picks up Fairmont State offer. The Lafayette Central Catholic (IN) prospect has been steadily gaining traction as he now has offers from Ohio Dominican, Lake Erie, Wingate, and Air Force.
2022 wing Kamari Lands of La Lumiere (IN) gets a Texas Tech and DePaul offer this week. He also had an offer from Xavier in hand. The talented sophomore is related to DePaul’s Jalen Coleman-Lands.
2021 post Payton Sparks picks up Taylor offer. This is the first offer from the Winchester (IN) product. He also has recently taken a visit to Cincinnati for a game. His interest is going to span a wide range of levels for a while until he develops some more.
2020 guard Tyler Schmidt of Victory Christian (IN) gets offer from Olivet Nazarene. The tall shooter has a number of interested schools and it wouldn’t surprise if this is the first of a small run here.
2021 guard Zane Burke gets offer from Grace College. The Blackhawk Christian (IN) scorer is one of just a small group of 2021’s that already have offers and an even smaller group to get small school offers this early. He also holds a Saint Francis (IN) offer.
Manchester University has offered a pair of guards in Lawrence North’s Dorean Hatton and NorthWood’s Trent Edwards. They are sitting in a pretty good spot to land both as those are the first offer for each.
2020 guard Will Jones of Monroe Central (IN) has committed to North Central College. The west suburb Chicago program doesn’t dive into Indiana a lot but they decided to take the high-academic guard in this class.
2020 guard Gavin Yoon gets visit from IU-East’s head coach last week. This hasn’t been the first time these two have met up and IU-East does like to take guys from the far-East and Southeast part of the state when they can.
Virginia watched 2021 post Caleb Furst this week as they are in town to play Purdue. The Blackhawk Christian (IN) standout has been getting increased interest from the Cavs over the Fall. He has offers from Purdue, Butler, Ohio State, Iowa, Indiana, Louisville, Marquette, California, Maryland, Michigan State, Stanford, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Virginia.
