Continue ReadingCarter McEachern is a tremendous player that Prep Hoops got to catch up with after his excellent football season as he rolls full force into basketball season after being selected to play in the Minnesota Football Showcase on Saturday at US Bank Stadium. Fresh off a 46-point game last week, read why you should be adding McEachern, a 6’6, multi-sport athlete at Zimmerman High School to your recruiting class next year.
Carter’s Strengths on the Court
McEachern credits his high motor as one of his biggest strengths on the court. “I always give my max potential,” he told Nate Wahl from Prep Hoops, as he continues to blossom in his senior year with the Thunder of Zimmerman. Carter is also a great all-around shooter and will lock down any defender he goes up against.
The Thunderous Improvement
McEachern told Prep Hoops the Zimmerman Thunder should be much improved from last season’s 7-18 record which still finished in the middle of the pack in the Granite Ridge. “We have a lot of kids that have stepped up and accepted their role on this team,” McEachern said about his Zimmerman teammates. Zimmerman looks to play aggressive basketball with pushing the ball up the court quickly, diving after every loose ball they can, moving in transition and finding the best possible shot on the floor with every play they get.
College Interest
McEachern doesn’t have much current interest as of right now but told Prep Hoops “If a college gave me an opportunity, they would not regret it!” when talking about the future his basketball career holds.
Carter’s Mentor on the Court
He gives his dad, Casey the nod for his mentor in his life and his basketball career. Casey McEachern has been his coach since he was in kindergarten and has given Carter all the tools to be successful in the game of basketball he plays now. Casey’s most important advice to Carter in basketball was to always “love the game and everything else will take its course” which is a very on point statement every young basketball player can live by.
Zimmerman’s Goals and Carter’s Goals
As a team, Carter told us his biggest goal is to go far into sections and show people that we are capable of playing with anyone. Individually, Carter is shooting for a double-double average and to break the Zimmerman Thunder school record for points, which both are great individual goals to strive for.
