Recruiting Report: 2020 Josiah Hardy
2020 unsigned senior Josiah Hardy has been impressive in the opening weeks for Gonzaga and part of the fact is due to a bigger increase of a role. He still is not getting starter minutes for the Purple Eagles but when he is on the court he is making it count. He caught up with us about his improvement that we have seen early on in the year.
“I am just trying to do what I can do to help my team win. I know that I have to be the energizer on the team and I just try to go out every night and do it.”
We asked him to describe his game when he feels like he is at his best, ““I pride myself on a lot of activities. I want my presence to be known whether it is on defense, whether it’s on the boards or just my finishing.”
He mentioned rebounding and that has definitely been evident in the opening weeks of the high school season.
“I just try and be active. When the ball goes up I just try and attack the boards and see if I can get a tip or if I can grab the rebound and I just like to stay on the glass.”
This improvement has finally allowed one local division one school to pull the trigger and offer a scholarship to Hardy. He spoke on what it meant to land an offer from Howard.
“It was a big moment. I have always wanted a division one offer so that was big for me and my family and I am really grateful for it.”
He continued, “I have been talking to them before they offered me, but now with the offer, I am going to probably take a visit there and see what the school has to offer.”
It would not shock me at all if some more smaller local schools made phone calls to one of the best unsigned seniors in the area.
