Prep Hoops Kansas released its most recently updated 2020 class rankings this week and the updated list features several players who have been mainstays in the rankings, as well as several players who have moved up the list.
Here Prep Hoops takes a look at several guards who have raised their profile and moved into the Prep Hoops rankings for the first time.
64 DJ Stubblefield, 5’10, G, 2020, Olathe South
A smart ball-handler who has great eyes four openings. He can fit the ball in tight spots and give his teammates a wide-open look near the basket. He scores from deep and can extend plays with his inside-outside mentality. A solid performer on both ends of the floor.
73 Peyton Mallory, 5’11, G, 2020, Lawrence
A nice guard who can break down opponents with his dribble and connect from a distance. Mallory is a guard who can operate with the ball in his hands and play off the ball as a catch-and-shoot option. He is active as a defender and looks to take away passes and jump passing Lanes. He is a good transition player as well and a thoughtful pastor and a strong all-around team first kind of leader.
65 Tai Johnson, 5’11, PG, Campus
An intelligent, heady player with the ability to lead a team as a point guard. He does a lot of his offensive work close to the basket looking to find his teammates and score through transition. He can also shoot from a distance and connect with a hand in his face. Johnson is a competitive player who leads by example.
95 Ezekiel Lyons, 6’0, G, 2020, Parsons
A standout on the football field from Parsons, Lyons is an intelligent player who can create with a ball in his hands. He has a soft, smooth jumper and can extend plays behind the 3-point line. He is a good passer and has good vision and is also aggressive on defense as an all-around player opposing team’s have to look out for.
86 Tywan Muturi, 5’11, G, 2020, Washington
More known as a standout defensive back for Washington, Muturi is an athletic player who looks to contribute on both sides of the ball. He runs hard he can score well in transition shows nice athleticism and control to his game. A playmaker who is active.
