RSC pulled away relatively early. Stifling defense and, to be candid, a heavy dose of Tyrese Hunter on offense was the deciding factor. Rapids struggled to find anything consistent on offense while and uber-talented core from RSC thrived in transition and in isolation basketball.
Tyrese Hunter – Racine St. Catherine’s – 2021:
Hunter’s case for top guard in the junior class continues to add depth. Offensively, he brought everything to the table — unstoppable scoring, explosiveness in the paint, instinctive passing ability. Scoring-wise, he produces in quick, isolation spurts, but manages to do everything within the flow of the offense — an ideal recipe followed by many high-major guards.
Jameer Barker – Racine St. Catherine’s – 2021:
The wing cropped up from RSC’s roster this season and is already petitioning for the number two role on offense. He balanced perimeter isolation with bullish inside toughness, as he scored with ease all afternoon. The junior is starting the year red hot, and appears to be the piece RSC needed to take the next step as a program.
Kamari McGee – Racine St. Catherine’s – 2021:
Along with being a shifty, crafty driver, McGee made his case for lockdown defender. His lateral quickness on offense is featured on the defensive end, but his overall aggressiveness and wariness to be in the right place allowed him to make a key impact.
Grant Flory – Wisconsin Rapids – 2021:
Flory didn’t shoot as efficiently as he typically does, but his talent was apparent. His jumper is improving, and he has the frame to be a versatile scorer. The more he uses body, the better he’ll become throughout the year.
Marcel Tyler – Racine St. Catherine’s – 2021:
Tyler was a nice surprise in the second half of today’s game. At 6’4 with a polished back-to-the-basket game, he dominated a much smaller Rapids team, offering up a handful of buckets off post moves. He was only averaging 2.5 points a game before this game, but with his size, he could receive more touches and minutes the rest of this season.
Elijah Lambert – Racine St. Catherine’s – 2021:
Lambert is a unique talent that was on trajectory for a breakout year after impressing this summer. His touch as a shooter is unique with such a rugged build, and though he had a reputation as a slasher, he played more of a forward and center role for the RSC offense.
