The 6’4″ Griffin has a strong post game and the ability to take defenders off the dribble, but one of his most impressive traits is his offensive rebounding ability. He attacks the offensive boards with great veracity and he will always get out of his area in his pursuit for loose rebounds and put-backs.
“I would say that my hustle is the key,” Griffin said. “Every time a shot goes up, I try to be the first one to the glass, whether it is on offense or defense. You can’t take plays off.”
Griffin’s overall play has earned him recruiting interest from schools such as Midland University, St. Mary’s University and North Central Community College.
At 6’4″, Griffin is the classic “in between” player who is skilled enough to play on the wing, but athletic and aggressive enough to excel inside against bigger players. He has continued to improve in both areas to make him the tough matchup problem that he is. He put in an excellent summer playing for Victor Williams’ Team YOBO 17U team.
“Over the summer, I got more explosive and athletic as well as improving my offensive skills,” Griffin said. “I can use my skills to take people off the dribble or I can create matchup problems in the post.”
As a junior, Griffin played an integral part in Lafayette’s run to a district championship, which was the four in a row for the school.
“It was awesome to win a district title last season,” he said. “But we gotta focus on this year and make it five in a row. That is our goal for the season.”
