This battle was the opening game of district play as well. Here is the synopsis and prospects who stood out in the game.
The game was back and forth from the opening tip-off. Both teams were playing with a lot of intensity and was in foul trouble early. The game was full of high emotions and no one was looking to back down from the other. In the second half of the game is when things got really interesting as the Spartans went up by 10 points with a 5 point run to end the 3rd quarter and a 5 point run to start off the 4th quarter. Momentum began to change for the Tigers as they forced some big-time turnovers to chip away at the lead. The game ended up going into overtime and the Tigers came out as the victors in the game.

Khaliq played really well against the Tigers. He knocked down some tough shots. Was able to get some quality paint touches and finished at the rim. Was solid on the defensive side of the ball as well. Has solid offensive IQ. Finished the game with 20 points and 6 assists.
Marcellus Paul 6’4 W | Cypress Lakes | Sr.
Tried to put an opponent in the rim. He plays with a great motor. Was active on the glass and finished really well at the rim. He was a chase down artist in the game as he had 3 blocks that he slammed against the backboard. He finished the game with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
Kesean Bennett 6’4 W | Cypress Park | Sr.
Kesean played solid in the game. He hit 2 big trey balls on the move in a pair of tough catch and shoot deep ball shots. Rebounded the ball well. Plays in spurts with great energy if he plays a full game with that energy he could be dominate. Finished the game with 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
AJ Ferguson 6’4 SG | Cypress Park | Jr.
AJ is a solid shooter from the perimeter and can put the ball on the ground to drive and create for himself. He has a long wingspan and plays with a good motor. He continues to grow year after year both physically and his overall game. Finished the game with 15 points.
Zechariah Selvage 6’0 PG | Cypress Park | Sr. PHTX200
Knocked down three big trey balls in the game. He is very explosive and has a super quick first step. He gets a lot of quality paint touches to create for his teammates. Solid IQ on both sides of the court and a tough on-ball defender. Finished the game with 11 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. He currently has two NCAA D2 offers on the table.
