Prospect Spotlight: Stefan Marcelle (2022)
Stefan Marcelle, a class of 2022 forward from Georgetown Prep, is steadily improving as we’ve seen early on during his sophomore campaign. Since the summer his skill set has evidently improved, but he’s also gotten stronger and is learning the nuances of the game.
“I’m taking my time and trusting the process,” Marcelle told Prep Hoops.
Marcelle stated that his role for the team this year will be to rebound, score, and lead. Scoring and rebounding come naturally to him, but asking a sophomore to lead is quite uncommon. It’s something that Marcelle admits he is still working on.
“I need to work on my mentality and being a leader,” he explained. “If I miss a shot, miss a layup, I have to make sure I stay in the game. Focus on the next play.
One thing that could be considered underrated about Marcelle’s game are his face-up skills. He is becoming more confident taking defenders off the bounce and finishing plays around the basket. As Marcelle’s skills continue to improve and his 6-foot-7 frame fills out he will only become tougher to defend.
What are his goals?
“As a team, to just play hard, listen to the coach, and trust each other. Individually, I just want to be a leader and a scorer. Make sure I’m doing my part, encouraging my teammates.”
Stefan Marcelle is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-20 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Maryland and DC’s 2022 class, click here.
