The all-around 6-foot-2, 190-pound freshman has long been one of the top players in his class in the state of Oregon and there’s no question there are big things ahead of him in his future. Mosley is taking things all in stride, but after playing high-level AAU basketball for the Rose City Rebels he’s ready for the next step in his basketball career.
“We did pretty good playing at a high level (this summer) but I got hurt in the middle of the season,” Mosley said. “I’ve just got to work to get back into shape. I’ve been working on shooting and I think my ball-handling and my vision improved. I think it’s a good system (at Grant) and I’ve just got to get used to the physicality and the jump from middle school to high school.”
Mosley comes into high school with a great reputation as an all-around player who can play multiple positions on both ends of the floor. That rep helped earn him an invite to the prestigious Prime Time Top 40 Showcase last month and there, he was able to showcase his skills.
“It was a good experience playing against some of the best players in the Northwest,” Mosley said. “I think my defense was good and I matched everyone else’s physicality. I don’t think you could really tell that I was a freshman. I blended in good.”
While it’s obviously very early when it comes to any kind of recruiting, there’s no question Mosley wants to play basketball at the college level. He even has an idea of what he’s looking for in a program both on and off the basketball floor. “I’m looking for a school that fits my play type,” Mosley said. “Also a school that has majors in what I want to do when I get older. I want to own my own construction business.”
There’s plenty of time for him as the next four years he’ll be a General – and this season he’s definitely ready to get things started. “I can’t really say much as I just started playing,” Mosley said. “But I think we’re capable of making it far.”
Grant opens its season on Thursday night at Benson.
