Continue ReadingIn the third game of the MABC, Atholton faced off against Veritas. Veritas found themselves with a 29-24 halftime lead but it was 2020 Jordan Oates of Atholton who had a big second half to come away with a win of 68-62. We caught up with Jordan to talk about the performance.
He started things off about what changed in the second half after they were down at halftime, “In the locker room we talked about how we gave them most of their points, we were the reason they were up at halftime. We probably had eight turnovers at the end of the first quarter and the turnovers were just the main reason we were losing, so the second half we had to come out and show why we are the better team.”
At halftime Oates had 8 points and 2 rebounds, after a monster 2nd half, he finished the game with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
“The reason I felt like we got those points is because our whole team started to get better on the boards and it wasn’t just me, my teammates got me involved more.”
6 of those 28 came from deep as the coaching staff showed they believe in his shot from the perimeter.
“I have been working on my shot a good amount, I want to be able to score at all three levels.”
When asked what he prides his game on, he said, “Definitely defense, defense turns into offense.”
Two local schools are standing out right now during his recruitment and he broke those down for us.
Stevenson: “Stevenson is a good school, I did a visit back when they had homecoming but I got to meet all the coaches and I had a great time.”
Salisbury: “I really like Salisbury, I did a visit before the Stevenson visit and it was a pretty cool campus and it was good talking to the coaches, I really liked the visit.”
