It seems like Carter Gilmore is putting up ridiculous stat lines on a weekly basis. This week, Gilmore put up 38 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists for Arrowhead in a big win over Waukesha West. If Gilmore keeps putting up numbers like this, he could be able to steal this year’s Mr. Basketball award.
Alex Huibregtse played two very good games this week. Huibregtse dropped 39 points in a win over Hartford and 21 points in a win over Port Washington. The Wright State commit is one of the state’s best overall shooters. When the ball rolls off of Huibregtse’s right hand, it is likely to find the bottom of the net.
Ever since he blew up on the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer, Brandin Podziemski has taken his game to a new level. He is playing with unshakable confidence and swagger. Podziemski exploded for 39 points in a victory over Messmer, then followed that up with a solid 26 point outing, and capped the week off by going for 36 points.
It is not a stretch to say that Podziemski is one of Wisconsin’s best scorers.
The Fox Valley Association is dominated by guards, but Max Nelson is making a case to be considered one of the conference’s top prospects. In Appleton North’s 80-67 loss to Oshkosh West on Tuesday, Nelson scored a season-best 35 points. The versatile forward’s stock is trending up.
Honorable Mentions:
Because the GMC is packed with star players, Aiden Flynn often gets overlooked. But, the senior has quietly produced big-time numbers in December. Flynn had a 37 point game for Marquette on December 20th. His playstyle isn’t super flashy, but he is a really solid overall prospect.
In Milwaukee King’s huge win over MAS, Quinton Murrell made seven field goals and lit up the scoreboard with an efficient 31-point performance. The sophomore guard’s play this year is a big reason why King is off to a blazing hot 5-0 start.
