Jamison Guerra (2020)
Guerra has only recently been cleared to go full speed in practice after suffering a deep bruise in his foot at the end of football season. The point guard didn’t seem hampered at all, and as usual used his strength and ability to get to the basket to finish hoops in the lane. As always, the OIT signee was tough with his man-to-man defense.
Blake Jensen (2020)
Sherwood is going to shoot a lot of threes this season so Jensen probably won’t get a ton of touches, but he’ll still be counted on as the Bowmen’s main post threat. In this practice the OIT commit was able to convert a few buckets near the hoop, but mainly focused on rebounding and defense.
Asher Krauel (2021)
Krauel, the returning Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Year, was quick playing the passing lanes and getting his hands on the ball in Sherwood’s practice of the press. The junior looked pretty solid shooting the three ball and having added some strength during the off-season, made some nice drives to the hoop.
Caden Davis (2021)
The Bowmen will be shooting the three often and one guy who won’t be shy about launching it from long range is Davis. The 6-foot-1 junior has a lightning quick release and whether it’s the catch and shoot or coming off of screens, he only needed a split second look at the basket before getting off his shot. We wouldn’t be surprised in the least if he ends up among the state’s leaders in three-point field goals made per game.
Bjorn Bergstrom (2022)
One of the younger players that will get some playing time is Bergstrom and a lot of it is due to the fact that he can shoot threes and in this practice he was especially good from the corners. He does seem to be more of a spot-up shooter at this point but Tufts noted that the sophomore also possesses a nice little floater off the dribble.
Baydon Kullowatz (2022)
Kullowatz is another sophomore that will get plenty of playing time and could even move into the starting lineup. He’s got a mature body for his age and at 6-foot-4, has the size and skill to play inside and out. Kullowatz was fairly solid finishing plays in the paint but also stepped out and canned some mid-range jumpers.
Zach Ariza (2021)
Ariza was the find of the day. At 6-foot-5 he’s got decent size to help out as a backup post and he’s a pretty good athlete but what stood out most about the junior was his motor. Ariza was very active on the boards and on defense and wasn’t afraid of guarding Jensen down low.
