POLL: Player of the Week (Week 2)
Two weeks into the season and we have another outstanding crop of nominees for Player of the Week! We received over 20 nominees and whittled it down to these 10:
Sam Bearden, Holy Cross (Louisville) – Sam had 20 points and 9 rebounds and hit the game winning three in a win at Iroquois, 24 points and 6 rebounds in a win at Fairdale and 17 points and 7 rebounds in a win over Sayre and was named Player of the Game.
Jaylen Dorsey, Berea – The Junior scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds in a win over Dayton then had 38 points and 7 rebounds in a loss to Pineville.
Kason Hinson, Augusta – Against Raceland, Hinson had 22 points and 7 rebounds then followed up with 30 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists in a win over previously undefeated Teays Valley (WV).
Luke Sheperson, Boyle County – Fresh off the football field, Sheperson had 11 points and 6 rebounds in a win at Somerset before a 31 point, 12 rebound performance in a loss at the buzzer at Frederick Douglass.
Justin Becker, Robertson County – In 3 wins for the week, the Sophomore scored 20 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 7 assists in a win over Bracken County then had 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists against St. Patrick then finished with 35 points and 14 rebounds, including his 1,000th point against Buckhorn.
Logan Steinmacher, North Bullitt – Against Central Hardin, Steinmacher had 31 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Against Moore, he had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in another win. Next up was a win over Bullitt Central where he had 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. To finish the week, he had 21 points and 6 rebounds in a loss at Bardstown.
Rodrell Dryden, Greenup County – Against Lewis County, Dryden had 19 points, 18 rebounds, 7 blocks, 5 assists and 2 steals in a win then went for 22 points, 20 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks in a win over Dixie Heights.
Bryce Riley, Nelson County – Over the course of a 3-1 week for the Cardinals, the Sophomore averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists per game and hit the game winner over Bethlehem. The next game, Riley had a career high 38 points against Model.
Kaleb Kanipe, Union County – Kanipe started his week with a double double in the OT win over UHA as he put up 18 points and 10 rebounds. In a win at Bracken County, Kanipe had 18 points and 15 rebounds then finished the week with 15 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Fleming County. Kanipe has a double-double in every game this season.
Wyatt Supplee, Carroll County – The Panthers went 3-0 this past week while Supplee had 33 points and 8 rebounds against Eminence, 17 points and 3 rebounds against Owen County and 47 points and 6 rebounds and hit the game winner against Louisville Western.
