Jordan Thompson | 2020 Combo | Southmoore — A
Jordan ThompsonJordan Thompson had one of his best games yet, perhaps, scoring 24 points on six 3-pointers. Offensively, Thompson was an A-plus-plus-plus, if I could give out such a thing. Frankly, he could have scored more had he elected not to yield to his later-mentioned teammates, who had impressive nights themselves. Thompson played as confident as I’ve seen him, a boost to his game that has had near-limited effects to his skill-set.
Jaylon White | 2021 PG | Norman North — A
Jaylon WhiteThough the scorebook wasn’t kind to the junior, Jaylon White was truly spectacular Friday night as he scored an efficient, gritty 19 points. White utilized his speed, craft and offensive basketball iQ to adhere to shots near the rim and about the mid-floor, flicking-off floaters and lay-ups with both hands to score the ball at a high percentage. Defensively, White’s skill was salient as well. He used his quick, long frame to his advantage to keep ball-handers in front of him. Though I don’t find it helpful to assign blame to high school athletes, I believe that White should have exited the floor with his head high Friday night.
Sam Godwin | 2020 PF | Southmoore — B+
Sam GodwinThough he didn’t reach a double-digits in the scoring margin, Sam Godwin’s role in the SaberCats’ win cannot be understated. The 6-foot-9-inch senior was one of the most consistent players on the hardwood, and he was highly-efficient. Six of his 9 points came from thunderous dunks, also, aiding his team by giving it energy and confidence. In terms of other responsibilities, Godwin was essentially untouchable rebounding the ball and gave way to very few shots near the rim on the defensive end of the floor.
Darrin Ryan | 2020 SG | Southmoore — B
Darrin RyanLike Thompson, Darrin Ryan also had a career night scoring the basketball, finishing with 19 points. He started to hit a hot-streak near the late second and early third quarters. Perhaps a tall claim, I have always thought Ryan to be one of the most talented shooters in the OKC-area. Friday night, he proved me right. He was also efficient in scoring and finished well near the rim.
