This event will be packed with college level players, especially division l, here we take a look at the wing players to watch.
Malaki Branham (2021) | 6-5 WG | Akron SVSM
Branham is the highest ranked player in this event that resides from Ohio. With high major offers already from schools like Kansas State and Ohio State, it isn’t hard to see why Branham is a wing player to watch. Big time athlete that can attack the rim, but is silky smooth from the mid range game as well. The junior finishes in any way around the rim and could need a big performance if SVSM wants any chance at knocking off Sierra Canyon. Branham is the elite of the elite and is a joy to watch.
Isaac Settles (2021) | 6-5 WG | Thomas Worthington
Settles is off to a good start to his junior season and is one of a couple scoring options that Thomas Worthington likes to role with. Secondary ball handler that can deliver precise passes, but best for scoring the ball. The junior will be tightly guarded by Columbus South, but will look to shoot the ball quite often if given the space. Good size, lengthy defender, player to watch Saturday.
Hunter Shedenhelm (2020) | 6-5 WG | Pickerington North
Shedenhelm is now that guy for Pickerington North with their star Jack Sawyer going down. A Division ll commit to Ashland, Shedenhelm is one of the best shooters in this entire event as he really can get it going from deep at times. The 6-foot-5 wing is a lockdown defender that doesn’t give up much dribble space either. Tough competitor.
Marcus Johnson (2020) | 6-4 WG | Columbus South
Johnson holds a Division l offer and is a player that can do a little bit of everything. Best out in transition where he attacks the rim, but can operate on or off the ball in the half court as well. Catches lobs, cuts to the basket and fights inside. Lengthy defender that does the dirty work, Johnson and South have the defenders to matchup with Thomas Worthington which should be a good one.
Garner Wallace (2021) | 6-5 WF | Pickerington Central
Garner Wallace is fresh off a state championship on the gridiron, a couple days later he dropped 23 points in a blowout win for the hoops team. In just a few days he will be playing on the big stage at Nationwide Arena, quite a sequence. Wallace is one of the smartest players you’ll meet and very talented. Already holds a Division l offer, Wallace is a pure athlete. Scores inside, a threat in transition, can shoot it and is a lockdown defender. Will have a favorable matchup with Butchel now that Chris Livingston has moved on for sure.
