This event will be packed with college level players, especially division l, here we take a look at the guards to watch.
Guards to watch:
Sencire Harris (2022) | 6-5 PG | Akron SVSM
Harris is a top three player in the sophomore class in the entire state and expects to be a high major player after his high school career. Could likely have his hands full with Kentucky commit BJ Boston in the night cap, Harris definitely has the size to match up. This game could see a lot of transition, which is a strength for Harris who attacks the rim with the best of them. Explosive off the bounce and hard to keep up with. Two way threat, big time matchup brewing Saturday.
Matt Allocco (2020) | 6-4 PG | Hilliard Bradley
Allocco is a Princeton commit that is as smart as they come on the floor. Lengthy guard that gives us opponent fits with his ability to get in the low post and score it at the high school level. The senior has improved his shooting and is getting to the free throw line much more. Plays downhill, crafty to the bucket and finishes through contact. One of the best guards that will be on display Saturday.
Jalen Sullinger (2021) | 5-10 PG | Thomas Worthington
Sullinger is going to get lots of ooohs and ahhhhs from the crowd on Saturday with his flashy passing and ability to shoot it from deep. Add in his ability to put the ball on a string and the junior is one of the best players in this event. Capable of going for 30 points on any given night, Sullinger will face a tough matchup against a good Columbus South backcourt. Should be an exciting game there. Division l offers.
Trevell Adams (2020) | 5-10 PG | Columbus South
Adams has a couple Division ll offers as he is one of the premier players in Ohio for that level. A state runner up last year, Adams is in his first year as a full time starter for the Bulldogs. Formerly was a big time sixth man and could have started for just about any other team in the area. The senior scores it at the rim with the best of them and makes up for his height with big time athleticism and bounce. Two way threat that isn’t scared to pin a shot to the backboard. Adams will have his hands full with Jalen Sullinger on Saturday.
Taquan Simington (2020) | 6-2 WG | Columbus South
Simington could be one of the most athletic players in this event. A big time defender that can also get his at the rim. Simington could likely guard Isaac Settles, a matchup that won’t be easy but he’s plenty capable as he is one of the toughest defenders in the area. The senior is a secondary ball handler and has the ability to shoot it off the dribble, but best around the rim as mentioned. Committed to a Colby CC where he will eventually be a sought after player there.
Conner Maciag (2020) | 6-2 G | Pickerington Central
Maciag is finally one of the go to players for Pick Central, a role he has been groomed into and plenty ready for. The 6-foot-2 guard can play on or off ball and is a viable passer that gets the best out of his teammates when in that role. Solid catch and shoot player, works well as a slasher too. Maciag has Division ll offers and should see some more come through.
Tae Perie (2021) | 6-0 PG | Akron Butchel
Top 60 player in the class of 2021 in Ohio
Casey George (2021) | 6-0 PG | Pickerington North
Top 100 player in the class of 2021 in Ohio
Dior Conners (2022) | 6-1 G | Pickerington North
Top 15 player in the class of 2022 in Ohio
Offer from Ohio University
Jerry Saunders (2022) | 6-0 G | Pickerington North
Top 35 player in the class of 2022 in Ohio
AJ Mirgon(2021) | 5-11 G | Hilliard Bradley
Top 35 player in the class of 2021 in Ohio
