Patterson Division Teams
Liberty, Park Hill, Lees summit, Winnetonka, Truman, Grandview Christian, Blue Springs, Ruskin
Tavion Banks, 6’5, F, 2021, Ruskin
Banks continued the hot hand throughout the tournament, shooting a high percentage from the field and making an impact as both a rebounder and scoring option inside. Banks was named the Patterson Division MVP after leading his team to the win and scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Banks showcased a terrific feel for post play and the transition game and scored 24 points in the semifinals win over Grandview Christain. He has a strong touch and looks to play physical and secure every rebound he could get his hands on.
Grant Stubbs, 6’6, F, 2020, Liberty
Stubbs had a strong tournament and showed strength, resilience and a hard-nosed mentality. He had a great performance in the semifinals leading Liberty over Park Hill. He led his team in scoring with 22 points, hitting 10-12 from the field and was 2-2 from 3-point range and added eight rebounds and three blocks. Stubbs didn’t quite get the bounce in the championship game, finishing with 10 points, nine rebounds and one block. Stubbs is one of the most active players at the Jewell Classic, a two-way athlete who has terrific hustle, street smarts and the ability to out work his opponents and get to the rim and finish.
Kaimen Lennox, 6’2, PG, 2020, Truman
An impressive point guard who has good size, bounce and overall athleticism. Lennox showed great vision and solid ball handling skills throughout the tournament in addition to leading his team in points. He had a team-high 21 points in their Monday win over Lee’s Summit and added two steals. He was 8-15 from the floor and hit two 3-pointers and was perfect from the free throw line. Lennox was named a Patterson Division All Star. He currently holds an offer from William Jewell.
Josue Grullon, Grandview Christian
Grullon had a strong showing in the semi-finals game against Ruskin (18 points) and then took his game up a notch Monday as they beat Park Hill, 80-62. Grullon shot 11-13 from the field and was 5-5 from 3-point range for 27 points. He had three offensive rebounds and showcased his inventiveness as a shot creator and just how deadly he can be when he is firing on all cylinders. Grullon was named a Patterson Division All Star.
Tyrone Moore, G, Ruskin
Moore is one of those players who can make a huge impact without needing to score a lot of points. He applies a lot of pressure on the defensive side, playing fast, close and with a lot of energy. He has a soft touch, great vision and is good at contesting shots and and staying strong and making athletic plays that are hard to contest. Moore finished the championship win over Liberty with eight points, seven assists, two steals and one block. Moore was named a Patterson Division All Star.
