After being up by nearly 30 points, Berlin put together a nice run that wasn’t enough. The Vikings looked very strong offensively at times.
Dylan Johnson (2021) | 6-3 WG | River Valley
14 points & 3 rebounds
Johnson has an all-around offensive game brewing against the Bears. Quick off the dribble, sliced through the lane and often finished at the hole. Was able to get to the hoop whenever he wanted, finishing more consistently could take his game to another level. Showed off a floater in the lane that he was able to get over bigger players. Had the three ball falling off the catch-and-shoot, including one from at least collegiate range.
Ethan Bell (2021) | 5-9 PG | River Valley
15 points & 3 assists.
Bell showed why he could be the best pure point guard in the MOAC this season. We only tallied three assists, but he set his teammates up for plenty more good looks. Had his shot falling from deep early, needing little space to let it fly. Uses the whole court as there wasn’t a pass that he couldn’t make on Tuesday night. Finished through contact for an and-one opportunity, converted. Often drove to the hoop and kicked it out to an open teammate. Communicated well on the defensive end of the floor, providing help defense at times. A good showing for the junior.
Jahki Henderson (2021) | 6-5 F | River Valley
6 points & 6 rebounds
Henderson was in foul trouble majority of the game, but he was an impact when out there. Crashed boards on both ends of the floor, including a put-back bucket on offense. Guarded the perimeter rather well as you can tell he’s in much better shape than last season. Jumped the passing lane for a transition opportunity that resulted in the junior hitting two from the charity strike. Good vision from the low-block where he shows unselfishness and gets slashers involved.
Austin Corley (2021) | 5-11 G | Olentangy Berlin
16 points
Corley was the number one option for the Bears on Tuesday night. Got to the rack rather well, made good decisions with finishing or giving it up. Handles the ball well, quick first step that gives him a boost through the lane where he was able to finish with his right hand. Didn’t settle for jumpers and knew when to put the ball on the deck. Longer armed defender.
Zak Stevens (2020) | 6-6 PF | Olentangy Berlin
Stevens didn’t play a ton, which was questionable as he did some good things when out there. Provided the Bears with size they didn’t have otherwise and would have been a potential matchup problem for would be scorers. Forced a tie up in his time out there as he goes straight up with his lengthy build that is hard to get past. The senior moves well and hustled back on both ends of the floor.
Klayton Kenney (2020) | 6-0 WG | River Valley
15 points & 8 rebounds
Kenney was a good secondary option for the Vikings against Berlin. Moved well without the ball, roaming the perimeter and found openings where he knocked down shots. Rebounds really well for his height, most of them pure effort. Strong inside.
Adrian Stone (2022) | 5-10 G | Olentangy Berlin
10 points, 2 rebounds & 2 steals
Stone brought good energy on the defensive end of the floor, showing his scrappiness by getting after loose balls and forcing turnovers. The sophomore was money from the free-throw line where he scored six of his 10 points for the Bears. Dependable when he was at the charity strike.
