1. South Granville Vikings (1-0)
The South Granville Vikings remain unbeaten on the season at 9-0 with their senior trio of Micah Jones (20.0 ppg), Wy’Kise Allen (13.2 ppg) and Kobe Jones (10.0 ppg) all producing double figures alongside junior point guard Bobby Pettiford Jr., who is putting up 21.4 points, 7.6 assists, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. They’re an early favorite to win the Northern Carolina Conference and should get every team’s best game in-conference.
2. Granville Central Panthers (2-0)
If there’s anybody set to challenge the Vikings, its the Granville Central Panthers led by their backcourt duo of Terence Harcum Jr. and Jamari Mann. The Panthers got 39 points and eight steals from Harcum and 28 from Mann in their first win in NCC action. They were no match for Roanoke Rapids as well in an 80-29 victory this past Friday night. Granville Central will be a team to keep an eye on in the conference.
3. Bunn Wildcats (1-1)
The Wildcats got a big win over the Louisburg Warriors for their first win in NCC play this past Friday. They gave up 35 points to Elijah Jamison but their spread-out scoring attack was enough for a 60-57 victory. 2021 guard Ah’Quay Mosley leads the team in scoing with 12.1 points per game while junior forward Xiaver Jones leads in rebounding with 6.1 per contest. They’re a competitive bunch with a few key pieces.
4. Louisburg Warriors (0-2)
The Louisburg Warriors are winless in NCC play at 0-2 but they’re still 6-2 on the year with one of the best scorers in the state in 2021 guard Elijah Jamison. Jamison is putting up 34.4 points, 13.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game with freshman Jordan Durham in tow with 9.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game and junior Ja’Heim Brown averaging 9.6 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per contest. They’re a young squad that should gel at the right time during conference play.
5. J.F. Webb Warriors (1-0)
The J.F. Webb Warriors got their first win in NCC action over Warren County this past Friday 51-47. They’re another young squad in the conference that should surprise a few teams as in-conference play approaches.
6. Warren County Eagles (0-1)
The Warren County Eagles could find themselves at the bottom of the pack for a while at 1-6 on the year. They’ve still got a solid duo in 2020 Andrew Smith (17.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg) and 2022 Jeremy Daniel (11.2 ppg, 1.7 rpg) but things could be rough for them in 2019-20.
7. Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets (0-1)
The 2019-20 slate could be rough for Roanoke Rapids as well. They’re currently winless on the season at 0-6 and have yet to get a notch in the win column just yet. They’ll be a group that should be tough to beat down the road.
