Here are this week’s games to watch:
Hatton/Northwood at Four Winds/Minnewaukan, 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 3
Four Winds/Minnewaukan has cruised to easy victories early in the year but faces another strong opponent Friday as the Thunder come in at 2-1 with a pair of solid wins. Slowing down Bronson Walter could be a challenge for the Thunder but both teams have excellent guards. Doug Yankton leads the way for the Indians but Jaeshaun Shaw and Jayden Yankton are both excellent. Hatton/Northwood has a well-balanced lineup led by Colton Konschak and Alex Wolfe.
St. John at Cavalier, 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 3
Another matchup featuring contenders from Region 2 and Region 4, St. John will take on a Cavalier team in a game between teams playing opposite styles. The Tornadoes will slow the game down and play through stud forward Andre Carrier while the Woodchucks will aim to play uptempo and put up points led by Bradley Defender and Michael Dunn.
Central Cass at Grafton/St. Thomas, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, January 4
Central Cass has the talent to contend in Region 1 but took a 20-point loss to Thompson last time it played. Grafton/St. Thomas doesn’t have the same kind of talent it did last year, but there are still experienced players around for the Spoilers to stack up some wins. They’ve played a tough schedule thus far and this would be another opportunity for a good win.
