Basketball season is underway. With teams already jumping into league play, there will be opportunities for teams to earn high-quality wins on a nightly basis.
Here are the teams of the week
West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs had an awesome start to the year, going on the road and beating Mandan and Grand Forks Red River in their first two games of the year. West Fargo Sheyenne ended last week with a blowout win over Grand Forks Central. Blake Berg, Zion Dettman and Tyler Terhark have been terrific thus far for the Mustangs and they’ll look to keep the wins coming when they host West Fargo this weekend.
Jamestown
The Bluejays have wasted no time getting into an offensive rhythm this season, as they are averaging 97 points per game through three games. Jamestown blew out Valley City in the season-opener but earned a couple nice wins last week, destroying Bismarck St. Mary’s by 45 and beating a Bismarck team that will be better than expected, 93-88. Boden Skunberg has been great, but Carson Lamp and Brooks Carrol have also have outstanding.
Bismarck Century
Bismarck Century took a loss in its first game of the year to No. 2 Fargo Davies but rebounded in a big way with wins over Dickinson (which later beat Minot) and Mandan. The Patriots were without starting center Andrew Leingang in that first game and while a lot of the role players have been inconsistent, Cade Feeney is a stud on both ends of the floor and the team is finding ways to win against top-notch clubs still.
