Here are this week’s games to watch:
Grand Forks Red River at Fargo North, 4:30 p.m., Friday, December 27
Grand Forks Red River has played a grueling schedule thus far, already facing the top-three projected teams (besides the Roughriders) and an excellent Class AAAA Minnesota team in Moorhead. The Roughriders are still not at full strength but their matchup with Fargo North could be a good one. The Spartans picked up a sorely-needed win Thursday, beating Fargo Shanley after a brutal start to the year. Can they continue righting the ship here?
Fargo Shanley at Fargo Davies, 4 p.m., Saturday, December 28
Fargo Shanley looks like a team that could fight for a spot at the top of the middle class in the EDC. The Deacons have solid pieces with Talon Hoffer and Roman Srjema providing a solid inside-outside duo and they’ll get a look at perhaps the most talented team in the EDC Saturday when they take on Fargo Davies. The Eagles have been rolling early this year, showcasing incredibly depth and balance.
Jamestown at Minot, 6:30 p.m., Saturday, December 28
The shine on this game got knocked off a bit when Minot took an early loss to Dickinson but make no mistake, when Minot is collectively engaged, it is good enough to beat any team in Class A. The talent is there. Jamestown has rolled early this year behind excellent performances from Boden Skunberg and Carson Lamp. This is already a game that could weigh heavily on WDA standings as both teams figure to compete for top-four spots.
