The game was neck and neck heading into the halftime break but then Oxon Hill tightened the screws defensively before ultimately taking control of the game. Here we recap this contest by highlighting 8 intriguing prospects.
ZACH BOLGERT | FAIRFAX CHRISTIAN ’22
Bolgert is a stretch big who started this game on fire. He is very capable of making shots from standstill positions or on the move from the catch. Bolgert was also active on the boards and did a nice job protecting the rim. He played with a high motor as well.
MARLON ELLERBE | OXON HILL ’20
Ellerbe was a reliable option off the bench for the Clippers. He is a fundamentally sound guard who can make shots and does a nice job using ball fakes to keep the defense off-balance. Ellerbe was active defensively. He took a couple of on-ball charges, recorded a few deflections and swiped a steal.
MALIK HOLLAND | OXON HILL ’20
Holland is known for his shooting, and although his shot was not falling early in the game, his teammates and coaches still trusted him to take and make shots. Coach Lew Howard did a great job running sets to get him open and he ultimately delivered. Holland is great at coming off screens and is always shot ready. He knows how to get open, how to attack closeouts and score from the in-between areas. He is a disciplined defender who does not compromise himself when closing out. Holland has good length and is alert defensively. He can be disruptive as a result of his length and is a good rebounder.
REIS JONES | OXON HILL ’21
The Clippers went small for most of the game, so Jones did not have a huge impact, but he came on and played well in the last few minutes. He is a high energy big man who anticipates well defensively, boxes out at all times, and is always available for dump-offs. He had a couple of dunks off the vert which gave his team the energy they needed to close out this game.
DONOVAHN KEYES | FAIRFAX CHRISTIAN ’21
Keys is a combo guard who can score or make plays for others. He sees the floor well and does a nice job of getting into the paint and kicking out to the open man or playing off two feet and looking for contact.
RONALD POLITE | OXON HILL ’20
Polite scored a quiet 21 points, but also racked up stats in the peripheral categories. The George Mason commit was under control throughout the game. Polite ran the offense efficiently, took what the defense gave him, and locked up on the other end.
MIKE SUMNER | OXON HILL ’20
Sumner is a downhill-type guard who can get to the rim and score but also make plays for others. He has impressive body control and can score from a variety of angles. Sumner competed defensively. He stuffed the stat sheet with blocks and steals as a result of his extra effort. Sumner also showcased his athleticism on the break where he had a couple of finishes above the rim.
KALEB TORRENCE | FAIRFAX CHRISTIAN ’20
Torrence is a combo guard who can shoot from behind the arc. He is also a good scorer from the in-between areas. Torrence competed defensively where he showed good pursuit and was effective at selling contact.
