Connor Showalter – Mancos
Mancos and Durango had a close game that came down to the wire. Although Mancos could not pull off the win, it was their sophomore that kept them in it as he erupted for 18 points in the game. He hit two 3-pointers, got four steals and kept it aggressive throughout the night as a sophomore we will have to follow as the season progresses.
Jaden Stoffel – Manual
3A state champions, Manual, went up against DSST Montview on Monday and received another huge scoring night from their best player. Stoffel was able to go off for 31 points on the night while hitting only four 3-pointers in the game which is moderate for him. He was able to open up different parts of his game and get to the rim. For a player mostly known for his shooting prowess, it was great to see him be able to score in other ways as teams will start locking in on the jump shot.
Luke O’Brien – Columbine
In his senior season, O’Brien is making sure that he keeps his team on the winning side. In their win over Highlands Ranch, he put up 21 points as he is off to an incredible start of the season putting up big, big numbers. He is seeing double teams and still able to get his. After a slow start in the first half, he saw the points come pouring in as he put up 12 points in the third quarter alone. He went a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe and also had six rebounds and three steals to go along with it as well.
Elijah Cook – Conifer
Conifer pulled off a close one and it was behind their 3-point marksman Cook who got hot and did not slow down. He finished the game with a game-high 19 points but 15 came from the 3-point line. Yep, Cook went 5-8 from beyond the arc and made sure that the defense knew where he was all night. He has a guard that can find him and he is not afraid to let it fly. His big night ensured the victory.
Tristan Hurdle – Highlands Ranch
Highlands Ranch is not a team that puts up their stats for one reason or another but in their loss to Columbine, we were on-hand and saw him have a solid game. He finished with a team-high 20 points. His points came quietly as he hit tough shots and made it difficult for the Rebel defense all night. The future CSU-Pueblo guard has been a player to watch this season as he continues to string together good games. Highlands Ranch is going to be a dark horse team to watch come playoff time and he is one of their very best players.
