It’s easy to talk about players like DaRon Holmes or Carson Basham, not to mention some of the other highly-recruited players and solid contributors that litter both teams’ starting lineups. And they will certainly get their due this season.
Rather, here is a compilation of a few of the game’s bench players that made an impact on Tuesday’s game in Goodyear.
Zach Foster – senior – Millennium
Foster’s contribution came from behind the arc in this one. While the defense crashed in on some of the Millennium players attacking the basket, he seemed to be open a lot and was able to hurt the Vikings with clutch threes at big moments. His big plays down the stretch kept him in the game later than most of the other bench guys.
Jayden Warren – sophomore – Sunnyslope
I’ve seen Warren play a few times before, and I’m always impressed by his hustle on every play he is on the floor. He had to come in as a replacement to start the second half, and made an impact defensively with a few steals or tipped passes, and his points came as a result of it.
Justice Marmara – senior – Millennium
Marmara played a similar style to Warren, using his athletic ability to play tough-nosed defense. He seemed to always be in the right spot in his minutes on the floor, and was an effective rebounder.
Adrian Moore – senior – Sunnyslope
Moore, in for some of the Vikings’ bigs when they needed a rest, provided athleticism and used his long frame and quickness to score and bring energy off the bench for stretches. He also collected a couple nice rebounds.
