Continue ReadingManasquan won 29 games a season ago. They were one of the best teams in the Shore Conference behind Ranney and are expected to take the top spot in 2019. Manasquan is off to a good start having won their first three games behind the sensational duo of Alex Galvan and Ben Roy.
At 6’7, Galvan was one ofd the best players in the conference as a junior. The Louisville baseball commit is looking to dominate his final season on the basketball court. He is not alone. Roy is one of the best sophomores in New Jersey and he is showing it early on.
For the second straight season, Roy has scored double-figures in the first three games of the season. As a freshman, Roy went for 10 or more points 13 times. He finished with 304 points and is looking to go well over that mark this season. There is no doubt that Roy is one of the top two options on Manasquan. He went for 18 points in the teams opening win over Raritan. Roy added 17 points against Brick Memorial and 16 on Sunday against Newark East Side.
This will be a regular thing for Roy. The 6’0 point guard plays the position the way it is supposed to be played. He is smart with the ball in his hands. Roy knows his role on the team as a scorer but he is not shy about distributing, especially with someone like Galvan on the post. Roy already has an offer from Robert Morris and that will certainly not be his last as his high school career progresses.
Manasquan was given the No. 1 seed in this year’s WOBM Christmas Classic. They will be in action in the second round on Friday, Dec. 27 against Toms River East. This tournament is set up for a matchup between Manasquan and Toms River North in the championship. Roy will be a huge factor if Manasquan wants to return to the final game of the tournament.
