Kendall Burell 5’10 PG Bonanza 2020 (#35PHN 2020) – It was great to see Burrell catch his rhythm in this tournament. He displayed the smooth stroke that has come to define him. Burrell buried multiple 3’s in every game of the tournament and looked comfortable knocking down shots off the bounce, and in catch and shoot action.
Riley Fornerette 6’0 PG Dysart 2021 – Fornerette wins the distance challenge. He showed off his in the gym range, spraying 3’s from all over the court. He’s an electrifying shooter, that got most of his buckets, off the bounce. Great ability to create space and then raise up and knock down shots.
Sam Mitchell 6’4 SF Payson 2021 – Mitchell looked like a San Antonio Spur executing a hammer play. He made almost all of his 3’s from the corner, including knocking down 7 in one game. Terrific catch and shoot player that forces defenders to stay attached at all times.
Corbin Dargons 6’3 SF Legacy 2022 (#29PHN 2022) – Dargons is almost a mini version of Mitchell. He does the majority of his damage from the corner as well. The rising sophomore was terrific in catch and shoot action all week. As he continues to develop, he will definitely be a player to keep an eye on.
Noah Sherrard 6’0 SG Silverado 2021 (#28PHN 2021) – Noah Sherrard was an absolute assassin all week. It wasn’t just the fact that he made shots, it was also the timing of them. Whenever the Skyhawks needed a big basket Sherrard seemed to knock down a 3. Always shot ready, he displayed some of the best shooting fundamentals of the weekend.
Tommy Newton 6’2 SG Clovis East 2021 – The kid from California shot it like a movie star. Newton hit big shots. He hit deep 3’s. He hit while off-balance, in catch and shoot action, and coming off screens. Perhaps the most consistent shooter on the weekend.
Tyler Pacheco 5’11 SG Clovis East 2020 – Can’t give Newton love without spreading some to Pacheco. The “Pac-Man” was solid throughout but he really caught fire in the championship game. With Newton on one wing and Pacheco on the other, it was simply too difficult for defenses to match up.
Issiah James 6’3 SF Basic 2020 (#72PHN 2020) – James is the perfect fit for a gritty Basic team. He is a shooter without a conscience. He was also another player that lived in the corner, however, James also hit a few from other areas of the floor.
Cash Clark 6’1 SG Mountain View 2020 – The aptly named Clark was money all weekend. The ultimate floor spacer for a big Mountain View team that made it to the semis. Clark showed off a smooth release and consistent follow-through. Didn’t really have a favorite spot as he was effective behind the line from all over the floor.
