As expected, the lopsided victory produced a lengthy standout list.
Cole Warning – Hortonville – 2020:
By his seventh made three-pointer, I started losing track of his points.
The Ripon basketball commit made a commanding statement offensively, especially with his three-point stroke. The guard is emerging as the first option for Hortonville as they make a push for the FVA title.
Logan Jedwabny – Kaukauna – 2020:
Kaukauna struggled, but Jedwabny attempted to carry his team past their miscues. His pull-up three-point shot was about the only steady force offensively, as early in the first half he utilized it to gain momentum and answer runs from Hortonville.
Mason Thiel – Hortonville – 2020:
Thiel is committed to Minnesota-Duluth for baseball, but he has considerable talent to offer on the hardwood. The 6’3” forward utilizes a slick back-to-the-basket skillset and awareness around the hoop to rack up easy buckets inside.
Jacob Newhouse – Kaukauna – 2020:
Versatility has been his niche as a prospect throughout his high school career. More of his fluid jumper and rebounding worked its way into Kaukauna’s offense tonight, as Newhouse was a centerpiece for them in the first half.
Jayquon Owens – Hortonville – 2020:
Owens stepped out of his shell tonight, working in a seldom-used three-point jumper during Hortonville’s scoring spurts. His defensive instincts were also on full display, as the guard ripped away a few steals and pushed transition play often.
Logan Grossman – Hortonville – 2020:
Grossman is yet another one of Hortonville’s out-of-nowhere talents. This season the big has gotten comfortable as a primary scorer, and tonight, he bolstered his 11.3 points per game while proving himself as a valuable frontcourt piece.
Mitch Tandeski – Hortonville – 2020:
The 5’11” guard is a jewel in Hortonville’s studded senior array. The junior helped the Polar Bears pull away in the first half, hitting a few momentum threes from the outside while piling onto their lead throughout the game.
Chris Morgan – Kaukauna – 2022:
Morgan struggled tonight, especially on offense. He played too fast, forcing passes while struggling to work into a groove from the perimeter.
It’s a bump in the road, surely, but his talent is undeniable. He possesses the sheer skill to become the main guy in the upcoming seasons, although that wasn’t on display in tonight’s game.
Parker Lawrence – Hortonville – 2021:
Lawrence is a perfect point guard for this Hortonville team. He facilitates to their surplus of weapons and scorers and has the isolation tools to create offense on his own (and it’s not a coincidence that he struck a perfect balance between those two things tonight).
