Devin Royal (2023) | 6-4 W | Pickerington Central
We have been able to watch Royal a couple times and he has not disappointed, in fact he looks like he could be the next big thing out of the purple and white. Royal comes off the bench and provides an instant spark, already having good size as a freshman and plays pretty fluid inside. Rebounds well with the length and is a capable shot blocker already, the defensive side being there already is big for the freshman. A lot of his scoring has come from a soft touch around the rim and put back opportunities. Already averaging nearly eight points a game, the Tiger will see production go up as he gets more comfortable to the high school game. An exciting player to watch already.
Ryan Nutter (2023) | 6-3 G | Dublin Jerome
The Jerome freshman in intriguing because he’s already a 6-3 lead guard. With his ability to handle it and size he could be a matchup problem for years to come at Jerome. Early on Dublin Jerome is rolling with a lot of youth and it has paid off with a 5-2 start. Early indications are that Nutter is going to be a drive and score or dish style player, that will really open things up whenever he is at the helm.
Joey Zalewski (2023) | 6-2 WG | Thomas Worthington
Many schools across the state would have Zalewski starting right away, the only problem is Thomas Worthington has a stacked starting five but, his time to start will eventually come. For now the freshman brings good energy and minutes off the bench. Showed signs of being a “3&D” guy early on with his athleticism on defense and his ability to catch and shoot.
Gavin Headings (2023) | 6-5 W | Dublin Coffman
Headings isn’t a go-to player right now for the Rocks or anything like that, but he eventually could be. A lengthy wing that has an impressive face up game, whether it’s from deep or taking the defender off the dribble. The freshman is still a raw talent and needs to tighten his dribble, but you can definitely see where his game his heading. Through four games Headings has been a nice role player good for six points a game. Lengthy defender.
Chase Walker (2023) | 6-5 PF | St. Charles
St. Charles is a younger team that is quite intriguing, they have a couple underclass players that standout, specifically bigs. Through the early going Walker is averaging nearly 11 points a game including outings of 16 and 14 points, both coming in wins. Walker and the other St. Charles bigs have size to matchup with any team they will play. Only a freshman but already a bruiser.
