Where was Quincy Allen?
The 2021 small forward did not participate in this game as he was sitting out due to a knee injury. Allen is currently ranked 3rd in our Maryland/DC 2021 rankings.
Who Led Maret?
2020 Teo Rice was putting on a show from the opening tip. He displayed that he can use his strong body to finish with contact driving to the rim and also hit some nice pull up jumpers but also was able to get his teammates in the score book while dishing out 12 assists. He definitely took charge for Maret finishing with 20 points and was super important with Quincy Allen not being able to suit up.
Who Was The Best Underclassmen?
2022 6’7 Adam Angwafo will be one to watch in the coming years. Already with a nice skill set, Adam keeps the ball high and is ready to constantly make his next move when the ball arrives in his hands. For a big man, he displayed some nice passing skills and knows when to kick it out before he gets in to much trouble down low. He also hit some jumpers right inside the three point line and a wide open deep three. Angwafo contributed with 10 points, 6 rebound and 4 assists.
Who Is Curtis Nixon?
The 6’5 junior has good size with a nice skill set and is someone definitely worth keeping tabs on. His size allows him to guard multiple positions on defense which should be attractive to college programs. He had a nice pump fake drawing his defender off guard that led to him soaring to the basket and finishing off the glass. He had 12 points while going 6-7 from the field and grabbed 6 rebounds for Maret.
Who Were Some Other Underclassmen That Stood Out?
Only a freshman, Bryson Wilson, does not look like one. Already at 6’5 and with a solid frame and good athleticism, Wilson was playing like a seasoned veteran for Maret showing off a smooth jumper and ability to be a force when attacking the rim. His versatility will be shown for this Maret team on both sides of the ball in the coming years.
Another underclassmen that was intriguing was 2022 Justin Queen of Severn. Queen is a 6’2 lefty with a good handle and showed the ability to be a a good lead guard in the coming years with the ability to knock down open shots.
