1.) 2020 Nick Reid, Central City – 18.0 rebounds per game
Reid is the only player to find himself among the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding so far this season, as his 27.0 points per game also ranks third in the state. The 6-7 wing has already posted a pair of 20+ rebound games, and his lowest rebounding total this season is 12.
2.) 2022 Kaden Hall, English Valleys – 14.0 rebounds per game
The 6-2 sophomore forward is also averaging a team-high 15.8 points a game for the Bears, who have won four games already this season, surpassing last year’s win total of three.
3.) 2020 Cody McCullough, Ankeny Centennial – 13.8 rebounds per game
The only 3A or 4A player on this top 10, McCullough has been dominant on the glass for the Jaguars, who are currently ranked #3 in the state in 4A. The 6-8 forward is ‘only’ averaging 10 points a game, but his work on the glass and as a rim protector (13 blocks) has been invaluable for Centennial’s strong start.
4.) 2020 Jake Egger, West Central Valley – 13.4 rebounds per game
Egger pulled down a state-high 25 rebounds in West Central Valley’s season opening win over Southeast Warren, to go with 23 points. He’s accounted for over 38% of the team’s total rebounds so far this season.
5.) 2020 Kiks Rosengarten, Wapsie Valley – 13.2 rebounds per game
Rosengarten is getting his chance to shine this season following the graduation of high-scoring guard PJ Rundquist, and he has delivered, averaging 21 points and 13.2 rebounds, while also leading the team with 16 blocks.
6.) 2020 Matt Schubert, Rockford – 12.6 rebounds per game
Schubert’s 35 offensive rebounds rank third in the state currently, behind only Kaden Hall and Postville’s Collin Bacon. The 6-8 senior also is averaging 16.7 points a game and is tied for 4th in blocked shots with 27.
7.) 2020 Brett Livesay, Collins-Maxwell – 12.5 rebounds per game
The 6-5 senior forward has pulled down nearly twice as many rebounds as any other player on the team, and his 12.7 points a game pace the Spartans.
T8.) 2020 Austin Miller, North Linn – 12.3 rebounds per game
A key cog on last year’s 2A state champion Lynx, Miller is having a monster senior year, averaging 21.7 points (on 74% shooting!) to go with his 12.4 rebounds a night. The Lynx continue to be the most high powered attack in the state, averaging 91.7 points a game.
T8.) 2020 Matt Haken, George-Little Rock – 12.3 rebounds per game
The most important player for a Mustangs team that entered the break hot, winning four straight, Haken has already pulled down 50 more rebounds than his next closest teammate. He’s also averaging 18.3 points and his 32 blocks lead the state.
T8.) 2020 Nathan Moeller, Prince of Peace – 12.3 rebounds per game
The only key returnee from last year’s state qualifying Irish team, Moeller’s scoring numbers and efficiency have dropped this year, but he’s still pulling down boards at a high clip, including a ridiculous 21-point, 21-rebound, 8-assist effort against Springville on December 17.
The next 11: Alex Van Kalsbeek (2020, MOC-Floyd Valley; 12.0), Nik Coble (2020, WACO; 11.9), Kaden Kirkland (2020, East Union; 11.8), Syles Jordan (2020, Heartland Christian; 11.8), Logan Fiege (2020, West Monona; 11.8), Grant Swanson (2020, New London; 11.8), Camden Schroeder (2021, East Sac County; 11.5), Garrett DeVries (2020, Morningstar Academy; 11.5), Kade Klommhaus (2020, Diagonal; 11.4), Frank Bierman (2020, Tipton; 11.3), Tony Davidson (2020, Van Buren; 11.3)
