Saturday night is the finals of the home team Mesa vs Desert Vista.
Here were some more of the top performers I viewed:
2020
Dyson Lighthall C 6’8 ALA-QC
-He had a monster 30 pts 20 rebounds vs Westview. He hit shots from deep and has soft hands to catch passes inside and went to work. He has polished post footwork and his shooting is so much better than a year ago. An obvious terrific rebounder using length, girth and boxing out.
Devon Brooke F 6’7 ALA-QC
-A face-up forward who is athletic vertically with deep 3pt shooting range. A good passer plays like a point forward type and has a great frame/body. A classic face-up 4-man at the next level. He rebounds well in his area and is all about his teammates.
Tanner Crandall PG 5’10 Highland
-A pure PG who is very strong and has a consistent game. He is also a very good football player and shows that toughness on every possession. He makes the opposing PG’s know he is there and has that sturdy football frame. He consistently hits perimeter shots and runs his team just like his coach would want. He is good from 3 to the mid-range with a pull-up. He sees plays developing and makes good reads. The crazy thing is he is playing the season with a torn labrum!
Crandall is as tough as they come.Christian Valle SG 6’2 Hamilton
-A super consistent catch shooter with a good approach. He is almost strictly off the catch and smartly moves without the ball and gets to open spots on the court. Desert Vista seemed to leave him open 5-7 plays and he cashed in from downtown.
2021
Steven Cervantes PG 5’11 Mesa
-A cerebral PG shoots it easily with deep volleyball line range. He has a great feel for the game and is always looking to score it from all levels. He is deceptively fast with a nice burst into the lane and slithers inside to score.
Carson Biggs SG 6’1 Desert Mountain
-Pure shooter off the catch and is improving off the dribble. Gets balanced quickly and squares up. He is good defensively as he had multiple steals and blocks with a sturdy frame and toughness.
