Johni Summers – 6’4 SG 2022 – Evansville Harrison (IN)
***12 points on 5/8 shooting, 6 rebounds against Floyd Central (IN)***
John is a long, lanky guard with some really solid handles and slashing ability. Really athletic and mobile and knows how to weave in and out of the lane with ease. Did show a little shooting ability with a nice mid-range pull-up from 16’. Could be a long term option for a point guard but is a little drive-oriented right now. Has some good length on the ball and is pretty good with his speed that I could see some ability on the ball whether on offense or defense. Showed some of that with a nice chase-down block. Raw right now but could be quite interesting.
Caleb Washington – 6’5 SF 2023 – Floyd Central (IN)
***2 points on 1/3 shooting, 2 rebound, 1 assists against Evansville Harrison (IN)***
Caleb is a tough wing forward who has great size and strength for a freshman. Was very poised and looked like a senior on the floor. He is great faced up in the middle where he can get a dribble or two and finish at the rim. But did show the willingness to shoot it a bit. Rebounds really well and somewhat aggressively. The confidence really shows and he could become a bigger part of the offense down the road. Frame should grow and with the strength he already has, should be the type that will be good to go in college right away.
Cole Harritt – 6’4 SF 2022 – Floyd Central (IN)
***12 points on 4/9 shooting, 4/7 from three, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals against Evansville Harrison (IN)***
Cole is a tall wing who can really shoot the ball. Long and rangy on the wing, he showed he can be a little bit of a creator and will be able to rip off shots pretty quickly. Tons of length and size to make him tough to defend. Neds strength but the game might grow a bit more. Did have a couple assists and looked like he was willing to lay off when needed to setup teammates.
Blake Herdes – 6’3 SG 2023 – Evansville Central (IN)
***5 points on 1/4 shooting, 4 rebounds, 2 assists against Gibson Southern (IN)***
Blake is a big guard who has the handles to stay on the ball a bit. He’s got a ton of energy and defensively seems to get it from an early age. Drives the ball well and drawing a ton of fouls. Will be interesting to see how he develops on the offensive side of the ball because he has the capability to be a strong shooter and the handles to get him in position. He did rebound the ball really well. Has that strength already on his frame that he can compete with 50/50 balls and get it done.
Kaleb Dosher – 6’4 PF 2022 – Mt. Vernon-Posey (IN)
***6 points on 3/7 shooting, 5 rebounds against Evansville Day (IN)***
Kaleb is a big forward who is growing a bit and starting to add on some strength. He’s a little more aggressive in this setting than we have seen in year’s past as he was looking for post up opportunities. Had nice touch with his right hand over his shoulder. He also showed he could really expand down the road with the mid-range game. Had a few looks from 15’ and really looked solid in them. He still needs a little bit more size but he is doing a lot at just 6’4 or so now. Good looks down the road.
Leland Walker – 6’0 PG 2022 – North Central (IN)
***17 points on 7/17 shooting, 5 assists, 3 steals against Brownsburg (IN)***
Leland is a quick twitch point guard who can really go. He’s in a spot right now where his offense is a little all over the place. He was shooting quite a bit more from three and might have wanted to see him drive a bit more as North Central was struggling to score as a whole. He’s such a good teammate and passer that he does set his guys up well but they weren’t really able to hit much of anything. Oddly, want to see him but more scoring oriented as his perimeter jumper is still pretty good and he has the ability to really score in the lane. Overall, solid game but wouldn’t be shocked if he has some huge scoring totals this season because his team might need that out of him.
Isaiah Davis – 6’7 PF 2022 – Zionsville (IN)
***2 points against Carmel (IN)***
Davis is a long, rangy forward who is starting to fill out the frame a bit. He’s got some really good skill and showed off a bit of it on Tuesday night. He only scored two points but he looked like he was going to be able to make plays in the mid-range as a shooter or putting it on the floor for a dribble and finish. He did hit a nice mid-range shot off the catch from like 10’ out. His strength showed through a little more and wasn’t going to get bullied around as a sophomore.
Peter Suder – 6’4 SG 2022 – Carmel (IN)
***7 points against Zionsville (IN)***
Suder is a tough guard who is still working to develop his perimeter game. He’s not a shooter right now but he can do pretty much everything else. He’s shown a better feel for rebounding around the rim. He’s a high-IQ player who tends to just be in the right spot. He does have a good feel for driving the ball and over the course of the season, could see that becoming a bigger part of his game as he will contribute to his offense. He did hit a late catch-and-shoot three but that will be the biggest area to watch over the next year.
Charlie Williams – 6’8 C 2022 – Carmel (IN)
***5 points against Zionsville (IN)***
Charlie is a long, rangy forward who really lacks strength but will be an impact guy by the end of the year. He’s really good for a young player with touch around the rim but his matchup was a difficult one against Vannatta and Davis. He did draw a ton of fouls and went 5/6 from the line showing that he could be a guy that could stretch the floor down the road. He has a ton of length but until that strength comes through, it might be a minute before that consistent efficient scoring is there. Did have him playing out of the high-post a lot and his mobility looked quite fine right now.
Logan Imes – 6’2 PG 2023 – Zionsville (IN)
***4 points against Carmel (IN)***
Logan is a tall guard who looked quite comfortable with his ball handling and creation for others in this game. He’s a guy that we saw as a scorer but hadn’t seen as a lead guard yet. He has some slashing ability, some mental toughness, and enough scoring ability to play right away. Dished the ball pretty well here and should be able to drive to dish. Pretty confident for a freshman so far.
Gabe Gillespie – 6’4 SF 2022 – Andrean (IN)
***7 points on 2/2 from the field, 8 rebounds***
Gabe is a big wing that has grown with his strength and his frame. He’s still developing as a player but his scoring looks improved as he showcased more low post options. He had a nice left-handed finish at the block and another big rebound putback that he had to muscle through for and landed an and-one. He’s not without ball handling ability but will need to get to where he can drive from the wing. As of right now, more of a faced-up forward from 15’ and in. Has a chance to really grow this year with a more defined role for Andrean.
