Bradley Bell – 2022 – F – Westosha Central
Bell is a player that just never gets his due no matter what team he seems to be on. The sophomore forward just does whatever is asked of him and makes a living out of those roles. Bell did a great job with his interior defensive, rebounding, and knocking down open shots when opportunities presented themselves. Bell finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds in the win. The 6-foot-5 forward can stretch the floor a bit with his shooting ability and is also improving his post footwork. Many bigs tend to develop late and Bell definitely has the makings of someone who could make a big jump in a year or two.
Nick Brown – 2020 – SF – Elkhorn
Brown came out very aggressive in the second half and nearly pulled Elkhorn in front. The UW-Parkside commit didn’t shoot the ball as well as he’s capable of, but had some powerful drives to the bucket and finished against contact. Brown scored 15 points in the loss. The 6-foot-4 wing has some good upside at the Division 2 level. He’s a floor spacer that also has some bounce. He might be a project, someone that needs to develop for 2-3 years, but if Brown sticks with it, he’s got the defensive and offensive versatility, as well as the athleticism to make an impact at that level.
Devon Davey – 2020 – G – Elkhorn
Davey just gives whatever Elkhorn asks of him. Defensively, he was their best option against Jack Rose. When Davey is on the floor, the ball just never seems to stick. The senior guard plays unselfishly and with a good tempo. Scoring 13 points, Davey hit a couple of big 3-pointers that were momentum changers at the time. Davey also did a great job of making smart decisions with the basketball, pushing the pace at the right opportunities and finding his teammates in high percentage areas.
Kenny Garth – 2022 – W – Westosha Central
Garth really got the Falcons settled in by hitting a couple of shots early. The sophomore chipped in with 15 points on Tuesday. Garth was terrific down the stretch. With Central trying to grind out the clock and secure the victory, Garth made some excellent decisions in isolation settings, pulling people away from the rim and attacking a cleared out lane. At 6-foot-2, Garth is a plus-length wing who can take defenders on 1-on-1. He’s a smooth pull-up jump shooter who showed terrific poise all night.
Jordan Johnson – 2021 – G – Elkhorn
Johnson is a guard that’s grown on us over the past few months. The junior is just a terrific athlete that plays with a lot of power and speed. At 6-foot-1, Johnson attacks the rim hard and has the handles to blow-by defenders. He can be a little out of control at times, but often does a great job of adjusting his shot in traffic and scoring off-balance. Johnson also does a lot of stuff that doesn’t require talent. He works his tail off away from the ball and is willing to sacrifice his body when it comes to saving loose balls. Johnson, who finished with 17 points, appears to be a nice Division 2 prospect whose stock will just continue to go up with more consistency from his outside shot.
Jack Rose – 2022 – SG – Westosha Central
Elkhorn is a quality team and they’re going to do well this year, but Tuesday was Rose’s night. The sophomore guard went off for 32 points, including 19 in the first half alone to help the Falcons grab a key road win. Rose has a mean pull-up jumper from 12-15 feet. He doesn’t rely on athleticism or flashy play, but just knows how to score and get his defender out of position. A hand in his face does nothing to faze Rose either. Rose’s 32 points came on an efficient 21 shots. He also got to the foul line 11 times. Rose is our No. 3 ranked sophomore at this time. If he continues to shoot the ball like this, there’s no reason to move him down despite players ranked below him perhaps having a better upside. Also a gritty player that generally has the highest motor on the floor, Rose often contributes in ways that don’t require talent.
