NLCA jumped out early to a big lead using some defensive pressure to come up with turnovers and easy buckets which would eventually lead them into halftime with a lead. Elevation Prep would come storming back with a run of their own and would take the lead late in the game but NLCA would eventually prevail, getting the win 67/57.
NLCA Senior Dahaun Jones: He took home the Player of the Game award as he was a huge part of the success of the squad as he was not only a main contributor on offense but on defense as well. The constant pressure he places on opponents with the way he attacks offensively as well as the pressure he applies on defense helped his team to get some quick and easy buckets. He finished with 17 points on the night, as well as a nice amount of steals and assist to go along with it, JUCO programs should be giving him a call.
Elevation Prep Senior Forward Cedric Farish: Provided the senior leadership for their squad, not only with his play but also with his voice. You could constantly hear him talking to teammates on the court as well as communicating with his coaches as to what is needed from him. He has some nice athletic ability and uses that ability to make plays on both ends of the floor. He’s picked up some JUCO and D2 interest from numerous schools so far.
NLCA Junior Alvin Singleton: Once again he was a huge spark for this team with his three point shooting as he caught fire in the first half, knocking down multiple treys in a row. We like the fact that he doesn’t second guess himself, he gives effort on both ends of the floor and has deep range on his shot.
Elevation Prep Sophomore Tommie Carter: You can see the potential in him without a doubt as he is already 6’6 with some skillset. He got better as the game went on, knocking down shots from midrange and making plays for his team inside of the paint. If he stays locked in and continues to work, he has a chance to be a very nice prospect overall and would see quite a bit of recruitment as time goes on.
NLCA Sophomore Malachi Travis: As he continues to grow and develop, you can see his confidence growing which will only make him a better player. He shot the ball well and was aggressive throughout this game, finishing with 15 points on the day.
Elevation Prep Senior Forward Immanuel Jones: He provides a nice interior presence for his team and did a nice job of scoring and rebounding inside of the paint. One attribute that we really liked about him was that he seemed to play to his strengths and didn’t try to overdo anything. Also he was solid defending without fouling, timing shots for blocks and used his height to alter shots as well.
NCLA Sophomore Forward Tristan Robinson: Just about every game, he’s matched up with a player that is taller than he is but does a nice job consistently battling. Although he may not have the typical height for a forward, he’s strong and understands how to use his body to box out players that may be taller than he is.
Elevation Prep Freshman Guard Stephen Quinn: He has the upside to be a very special prospect when it’s all said and done if he continues to progress. We saw some flashes of how good he can be during this game as he knocked down some three point shots and made plays for his teammates to put them in position to score.
