Several teams from California, Arizona, and Nevada showcased their abilities in front of coaches, media, and fans. Here are some of the players that improved their stock with their performances over the first 2 days of the Classic.
Anthony Roy (Dublin, GW, 2020) The 6’4″ player from Dublin High School is simply a scoring machine. Roy was very impressive with his ability to score in multiple facets. He possesses athleticism and can slither his way to the basket. On the perimeter he has a consistent three point shot which he can shoot both off the dribble and on the catch as well. On the first night he had 23 points with 5 three pointers against Rancho Christian. He followed up that performance with a 27 point output on night 2. Mid majors and other D1s need to keep an eye on Roy.
DJ Dudley (Fairfax, CG, 2022) With leading scorer Keith Dinwiddie sidelined, Dudley took over the helm and dropped 23 points in a win over Liberty High School on day 2. Dudley is a versatile scorer who is showing huge progression in his 3 point shooting ability. His confidence to stroke the ball from deep has really showed as he also went for 20 points on his day 1 performance. Dudley’s improved ability to pull up from 3 adds to his slashing ability and crafty finishing at the hole. Dudley is a sophomore who has high D1 written all over him.
Kijani Wright (Windward, Big, 2022) Wright is an interior force. The 6’9″ bigman exploded on day 1 with a 26 point, 10 rebound, 5 block performance. Wright displayed an improved shooting touch as he was able to knock down several face up jumpers both off the triple threat and catch and shoot. When in the paint, Wright used both his left and right to finish at the basket. Kijani has a huge frame which has the potential to add even more muscle. It is scary to think of the finished product he will develop into. High D1 player.
Snookey Wigington (Ribet Academy, G, 2020) A small crafty playmaking guard, Wigington is one of the most underrated players of his class. Going up against top ranked Sierra Canyon, Snookey exhibited his ability to score the ball as well with a 19 point performance. Wigington utilized his quickness and ball handling to get into the lane, and was also able to hit several 3s off the catch. Snookey always plays with composure and possesses a high basketball IQ. Basketball is in his blood as his dad Pooky was a State JC champ at Ventura College who later played at Seton Hall.
Josh Camper (St. John Bosco, G, 2020) Camper poured in a 22 point effort against Fairfax on day 1 of the Classic. The Bosco guard illustrated his ability as a deep ball threat as he scorched the nets with six three pointers. Camper is a high IQ guard who has the trust of his coaches and teammates. He’s the team captain and leader. Camper at times sacrifices his own looks to get his teammates involved and does a great job of finding Lemaj Lewis and Jeremiah Nyarko in the right places. Bosco has two wins so far in the Classic.
