Here is a look at the final day standouts list (Part 2)
Terrance Williams (Gonzaga)
A recent de-commit from Georgetown, whoever lands Terrance Williams will be a lucky Division I program. The 6’7″ forward is very good. He hustles inside, grabs boards and constantly goes for tip-backs and second chance points. He is strong, athletic and full of slashing ability. He finished with 22 points and 22 rebounds nearly outrebounding the entire McEachern team in the process (29 total rebounds). Williams has been a brute all week and I expect him to tear it up at the next level.
Sharife Cooper (McEachern)
His third straight year in the City of Palms Classic, the fame of 2020 6′ Auburn commit Sharife Cooper rose with each game that he played in. It is fitting that he passed NBA’s Lance Stephenson for fourth all-time on the tournament’s all-time scoring list. He’s just behind Austin Rivers with 271 total points. In this game, Cooper scored 24 points. He certainly couldn’t be happy with his shooting percentage but he was finishing in a variety of ways and did all he could to carry his squad.
Darron Humphrey & Quinton Desamours (Lehigh)
The sealing bucket from 2020 6’4″ guard Darron Humphrey came with under a minute left in the game on a dunk in transition. His team was trailing by as much as 19 points late in the third quarter. The Lightning certainly benefited from Malachi Wideman fouling out in the second half but it was a hard fought team effort and one that was fun to watch. Humphrey had 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting while 2020 6’4″ guard Quinton Desamours added 17 points including some clinching free throws late. Other notable scorers were: 2021 6’4″ forward Nate Cadet (14 points) who continues to battle inside every time I see him and 2021 5’10” guard Markel Carter (12 points).
Malachi Wideman & Will Mizer (Venice)
Before fouling out, 2020 FSU football commit Malachi Wideman was dishing out passes, hitting 3’s and dunking all over the place to end with 14 points. The 6’5″ guard is a freakish athlete who won the dunk contest the night prior. A very nice performance came from his 2021 6’2″ teammate Will Mizer. He shot 7-of-12 from the field for 19 points. Venice was playing a game with a lot of movement and cohesiveness. With Wideman, the Indians will be able to hang with most teams in their area.
Inady Legiste & Dave Herard (Stranahan)
The two best pieces going for Stranahan in the loss to Seminole were 2020 duo Dave Herard and Inady Legiste. The 6’6″ Legiste finished atop his team in the box score with 19 points and nine rebounds while shooting 6-of-12 from the field. His length and ability to move people inside is always an issue. The other key piece for Stranahan was 6’2″ guard Dave Herard who was 5-of-10 from the field with 14 points. The Mighty Dragons have a ton of athletes and can compete with just about anyone.
Jayven Millien & Jason Jackson (Riverview)
Two athletes stood out in this game for Riverview in 2021 6’7″ forward Jayven Millien (14 points) and 2023 6’2″ guard Jason Jackson (10 points). The shots weren’t falling at a high clip but both guys had moments late. Millien is a good mid-range shooter, who thrives as a slasher and pull up shooter. If he gets stronger, he will have a more balanced game. As for Jackson, his strength and elusiveness continue to stand out as he can do plenty as a lead ballhandler.
