Jaden Bradley delivers a masterful performance
On Day 1, he made a game-winning 3-pointer and on Day 2, he put up the first triple-double in Charlotte Hoops Challenge history. Jaden Bradley was stellar this past weekend for The Cannon School and showed why he’s considered one of the top prospects in the 2022 class. He’s a prospect that plays at a very high level as he averaged 24.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per contest across their two games on the weekend. It also helped that 2022 hybrid wing D.J. Nix and 2021 guard Jarvis Moss had big performances too.
The Burlington School and United Faith Christian was a double-overtime thriller
The Burlington School and United Faith Christian Academy could very easily take home game of the challenge with their double-overtime matchup. It looked like things would get out of hand early for TBS after they went down early 11-0 but they kept fighting and 2020 wing JaDun Michael stepped up big on a number of key possessions to help his team pick up the victory.
Garrett Hien proves he belongs
One player that turned heads in the Charlotte Hoops Challenge is Garrett Hien of Concord First Assembly. Hien had a number of big dunks and plays around the rim that showed why he’s such a prized commit in Furman’s 2020 class. He’ll be one to watch for a very long time.
Jack Dortch saves the day
There were a number of good games on this year’s challenge schedule and the matchup between Butler High School and Charlotte Catholic didn’t disappoint as the game came down to the final seconds. 2020 shooting guard Jack Dortch sealed the victory for Charlotte Catholic with a big 3-pointer at the end to put his team up for good, 55-54. They also got 23 points off the becnh from 2020 forward Kevin Kullick, which helped balance things out.
R.J. Johnson is a stud
2020 guard R.J. Johnson averaged 28.5 points and 7.0 assists per game as Charlotte Latin School went 2-0 on the weekend with big wins over South Mecklenburg and Hickory Grove Christian. His most impressive trait was his ability to get to the free-throw line in the Charlotte Hoops Challenge. He shot a combined 27-of-33 from the free-throw stripe, showing off his ability to draw contact and secure easy points.
