Kevin Kullick, Forward, Charlotte Catholic
Kullick was methodical in the halfcourt for Charlotte Catholic in the paint and on the perimeter at the Charlotte Hoops Challenge. He used his size well at 6-foot-5 to create shots around the rim and stretched the floor with his 3-point shooting ability. He posted 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point land in their win over Butler High School.
Jack Dortch, Shooting Guard, Charlotte Catholic
Dortch was a sharpshooter from deep all game long and even made the game-winning 3-pointer in their victory over Butler High School at the Charlotte Hoops Challenge. He’s a sharpshooting guard 5-foot-10 that can knock it down in space and with a defender in his face. He shot 5-of-12 from 3-point range in the victory and also dished out three assists.
R.J. Johnson, Guard, Charlotte Latin
Johnson is a strong and wiry guard that had two strong days in the Charlotte Hoops Challenge. He uses his body well to create fouls and get to the free-throw line while still remaining efficient. He posted 30 points in their victory and dished out seven assists over Hickory Grove Christian while shooting 17-of-22 from the free-throw line in a 71-65 win. In their win over South Mecklenburg, he put up 27 points and went 10-of-11 from the free-throw stripe while dishing out seven assists in that one as well.
JaDun Michael, Wing, The Burlington School
Michael played a big part in The Burlington School’s double-overtime victory, 69-68, over United Faith Christian Academy with his passing and scoring ability. He posted 22 points and four assists in the win, including the game-winning layup with roughly 5 seconds left in the game. He showed why Wichita State was pursuing him so heavily with his showing at the Charlotte Hoops Challenge.
Mylyjael Poteat, Forward/Center, The Burlington School
Poteat is another Division I commit (Rice) that showed off his skills in his team’s win over United Faith. He put up 18 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, making his presence felt in the paint all game long. As he learns to be more active on both ends, he’s a prospect with a very high ceiling.
Cheick Traore, Forward/Center, Concord First Assembly
Traore didn’t have the greatest day on offense, finishing with six points, but he still managed to hold his own in the paint on the glass and as a paint protector. He snagged 11 rebounds and swatted three blocks in Concord First Assembly’s gritty win over Independence. He’ll be a name to look forward to at Youngstown State next season.
Garrett Hien, Forward, Concord First Assembly
Hien was a player that really set the tone for Concord First Assembly’s offense in their 68-64 victory over Independence. He put up a game-high 22 points and five rebounds, showing off his length and athleticism with a number of solid plays on offense. He’s a certified steal headed to Furman next season.
Anthony Allen, Point Guard, Independence
Allen led the way for Independence with 20 points with his relentless ability to attack the rim. He made two 3-pointers as well and led the team in scoring offense, though his effort wasn’t enough to get a victory in the end. He still managed to hold his own though he didn’t dish out any assists in the game.
Luke Stankavage, Guard, Ardrey Kell
Stankavage played like a man possessed on offense against Cannon School and finished with a game-high 38 points, though it came in a losing effort. He shot an efficient 14-of-23 from the field and 8-of-11 from 3-point range and also snagged five rebounds and three assists. He’ll be one to track at Ardrey Kell this season.
Davidson Hubbard, Forward, Ardrey Kell
Hubbard was fundamentally sound in the post and aggressive with the ball in his hands around the rim for Ardrey Kell despite their 78-72 loss to Cannon School. He put up 16 points and seven rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. He’s drawn interest from Roanoke, Hampden-Sydney, Shenandoah and UNC Pembroke.
