This portion of the event will be played at Jack Britt HS and also features a mixture of teams from in town and out of town. So who are some of the teams and players to keep an eye on for this event? We got you covered.
Pine Forest currently holds a record of 7-1 with their only loss coming to Westover HS who has yet to lose a game this season. The Trojans feature a nice amount of talent which includes Sharp Shooting Sophomore Guard Tristan Harkins and Fab Freshman Isaiah Washington, both who have been puting up numbers. The Trojans aren’t solely a young team as they get veteran leadership and nice production on a nightly basis from Senior Guard Marquis Eskew.
Hoggard is off to a nice start some of the reasons for that is Senior Guard Sabastian Haidera as well as Junior Guard Brady Rankin who can both go for 20+ at any given moment. They are favored in their first matchup with Grays Creek HS and then will be looking at a date with South View or Southern Lee in the second round.
Southern Lee took home the bracket championship last season but will have a much different look to their squad this season as they are much younger. They have some nice guard play and potential to be good as the season goes on, so this should be a great opportunity for them to learn more about themselves as a team and get better.
Terry Sanford comes into the tournament at 6-1 and have a chance to make a run at the championship with a good mixture of talent. Now that the football season has ended, they have their full team together and are one of the bigger teams in the county. Sophomore Davis Molnar at 6’7, Senior Forward Yates Johnson at 6’6, Senior Forward Kyron Kelly at 6’6 and Senior Center Ezemdi Udoh at 6’7 are all players with size that play a role for this team success.
Jack Britt is the host team and although their record may not be extremely impressive, they have a chance to pull of some upsets. Look for contributions from players like Senior Guard Langston Davis and Sophomore 6’6 Forward Demetri Patterson who is just coming off of a 20 Point performance against Lumberton HS.
