Coaches from Brown, GW, Holy Cross, Loyola (MD), Marymount, Navy St. Joe’s, St. Mary’s (MD), and Temple were spotted in the gym throughout the day. Here is a rundown of 10 standouts from Friday’s action.
ANTHONY BLUNT | 6’2 PG | PALLOTTI ‘20
Blunt was solid on both ends of the floor. He was solid at the point of attack defensively. Blunt was active on the boards and boxed out his man consistently. He looked to get downhill consistently and proved that he could deal with physicality well. Blunt also did a nice job setting up his teammates for easy buckets.
LORENZ BOYKIN | 6’0 G | BENEDICTINE ‘20
Boykin plays with high energy and has a sneaky good skill set. He can create his shot with a go-to step-back move that he uses and can hit that mid-range jump shot consistently. Boykin is a crafty finisher around the rim but can also step out and knock down the three-ball with his feet set.
JALEN BRYANT | JOHN CARROLL ‘21
Bryant was the X-factor in his team’s comeback win over Landon. He set the tone on the defensive end with his overall activity level. Bryant recorded several deflections and swiped a game-high 5 steals. Offensively, he shot the ball exceptionally well (4/5 from behind the arc). He also made some nice reads with the ball in his hands.
MIKE GRAY | 5’10 G | LANDON ‘22
Gray impressed in many areas against John Carroll. He took a couple of charges and rebounded well in his area. Gray looked to get downhill consistently and either score at the rim or find an open teammate. He also showcased a nice in-between game.
COLE HANIN | 5’9 PG | BULLIS ‘21
Hanin is a flat-out pest defensively. He consistently picks up full court and is tough to separate from as a result of his quickness. On the offensive end, Hanin is a reliable playmaker who demonstrates solid fundamentals. He can shoot it with the best of them and utilizes shot fakes to keep the defense off-balance.
KENNY MCKOY | 6’5 F | ST. MARY’S RYKEN ‘21
McKoy had a breakout performance against John Paul. He scored in a myriad of ways and was active on the glass. McKoy’s impact was felt defensively as he showed that he has the quickness to switch on to guards and be disruptive in the paint.
ERIK REYNOLDS | 6’3 G | BULLIS ‘21
Reynolds came out aggressively and took advantage of his size by posting up and showing that he can score with his back to the basket. He scored it from all three levels but also played tenacious defense. Reynolds is a grab-and-go threat who can make plays in transition.
RODNEY RICE | 6’3 G | BULLIS ‘22
Rice scored a seemingly effortless 25 points in about 3 quarters of action. He’s a relentless scorer who is dangerous from the triple threat. Rice has unlimited range, a sneaky quick first step and looks for contact on his drives to the rim. He also did a nice job initiating the break after securing a defensive rebound.
CESAR TCHILOMBO | 6’8 C | JOHN CARROLL ‘22
Tchilombo stood out primarily as a result of his unrelenting effort. The budding post prospect is a solid defensive anchor who talks on defense and fights hard for every 50/50 ball in or out of his area. Tchilombo has good lateral quickness and can switch on the perimeter but is also a very good rim protector.
CEPHAS WILSON-BAHUN | 6’5 F | JOHN PAUL THE GREAT ‘21
Wilson-Bahun was one of the most impactful defenders we saw on Friday. He plays with a high motor and is a chase down artist. Wilson-Bahun is a strong communicator defensively who rebounds well in or out of his area. On the offensive end, he was patient with the ball, used shot fakes effectively and showed that he could finish through contact.
